I had a very loose steering in my JLUR and the dealership replaced the steering box. The loose steering is much better with the new box, but now it seems to wonder more and I'm thinking of changing my LCAs. The only two that people are talking about on this forum are the Mopar ones and Teraflex. What about Metalcloak, Rancho, Synergy or Skyjacker.....or maybe some other brand?
My Rubicon is not lifted (only the factory ruby lift) and I put 35" tires on it. I don't plan on lifting it any higher but I want to fix this wondering problem. Any suggestions?
Here's why I chose the Mopar lift arms for my JLR
- Inexpensive
- OEM quality & fit
- Dealer can't tell I've done anything, so I doubt it would ever void any warranty or insurance claims
- non-adjustable 6° of caster can't ever go out of adjustment
- don't plan on lifting

The change is very subtle, but I do find that I am more comfortable above 65 MPH than with OEM caster.

This is the exact reason why I swapped mine, don’t want to get hassled when warranty work comes, minus the last point.

Yeah... I lied on that one. No more than 1" though.
Ha me too, already getting threatened by dealer for 0.5” spacer lift when I had to bring it in for a software calibration issue... can’t imagine what’s worse to come.

Did the harshness on the bumps go away when u fixed the caster my jeep drove fine till i did the mopar lift thinking that i need adjustable lca’s
Im at about 8 now .. My jeep drives like a dream ever since. I guess it just likes caster. Its not harsh at all and drives straight as an arrow.

Has anyone swapped the lower control arms just using hand tools? Im changing mine this weekend but i dont have a compressor at home. Someone earlier innthe thread said space was an issue for getting tools in there.

Doing mine with hand tools, don’t think it will be a problem. I just received the parts and probably digging in on mine next week.

It can be done with hand tools, but an impact will make it a lot easier. I ended up using my electric impact.

I changed my LCAs with hand tools only and those bolts are on tight! Make sure you have a long breaker bar if you don’t have a good impact wrench.

How do you change the LCA properly without hand tools ?
For proper reassembly everything needs to be torqued to spec with a torque wrench. Impacts are fine for tearing things apart, but it’s not only about it being easy ! it’s about being done correctly as well. One of the reasons I’m doing it myself is so that it’s done correctly. if I wanted it thrown together with impacts any old way I would just have the dealer do it.
