2.0 = more fun now; less outside of warranty
3.6 = not a fun little turbo, and still more complicated than I’d like (see threads on the dual battery setup), but probably easier to live with outside of warranty.

That’s what my gut was telling me so I got the V6. Love it so far!
I'd rather have the 2 batteries on my 3.6 than a 48v monster mounted underneath the body with coolant lines running through it.

I went with the 3.6 for the simplest set up. It's a proven set up and works. If the 2.0 had been around for the last 6 or 7 years then I may have given it more thought.

That's because the ESS shut it off, Lol! Honestly, it is subjective, but I've driven them back to back, too, and the 4 feels and sounds like a 4, to me. Still, it is a little rocket motor.
I can definitely agree the V6 does sound better.

Hey Dan...really appreciate your insight, specifically re oil and flash points...wondering tho, for daily drives w little or no load is there a real need for ultra premium synthetic? Straight up Mobil 1 wouldn’t be just as capable??

It would be excellent, even for rough duty, but I have yet to see "regular" Mobil 1 in a 0w20. Certainly it would work in 5w30 flavor for the 2.0 if it is SN+ rated, which I'm pretty sure it is.

I drove them both and was surprised how peppy the 2.0T is. I preferred the V6 though. I am in no hurry though and think I will wait for the eocdiesel. I know it has a bad rep but supposedly, the Gen 2 may fix all that. And a GDE tune...

So it seems you’re a pretty smart dude...what are your thoughts on regearing? I’m considering 35s w 17 in wheels and a 2.5 lift. I’ve been following threads here and there are no less than a 1000 opinions! I have the 2.0 turbo and love it. A friend says 4.56 gearing is the way to go. Otherwise 7th and 8th bog down. Perform first, pose second!

When I bought mine in February, I asked who actually makes the 2.0. Couldn’t get a straight answer, other than being similar to the engine in an Alfa Romeo crossover. Since Jeep is in the same group, I asked, “ So is it a Fiat motor?” The salesman and lot owner looked at their feet and were unable to answer.

Short answer, Chrysler’s well established V6 they put in practically all their models, or a complicated 4 cylinder with an unproven track record that only offers a marginal improvement in power/mileage. I’ve had no issues with my V6 at 7K miles. On a recent cross country trip it averaged 24 mpg.

Thanks, but I've no experience with regearing. I'm running 35s on stock Rubi 4.10 gearing and the 6 speed with the V6. That set up works fine, but may not translate to the combo you are running.

What gearing does your 2.0 have now? If it is a Rubi, you probably wouldn't need to regear. I think that 2.0 would easily pull 8th gear with 35's with 4.10's. If you are running taller gearing than that and decide to regear, then sure, I'd think the 4.56 gearing could be good, but I'd talk to some others around here with more experience. I'm really just guessing.

FCA makes the 2.0, just as they make the 3.6. If you are referring to what country is the engine produced in, then the answer is on the window sticker.

Early 2.0 engines were all made at the Termoli plant in Italy, but now they are being built at the Trenton plant in Michigan.

The 3.6 is made at the Saltillo South plant in Mexico.

I'd go with the PHEV setup if it were an option. I mean, it'll be an option later this year/sometime next year apparently, but we're talking about Chrysler here. The first ones will probably be lemons. X_X

bought mine in April, my window sticker says motor made in Italy. Funny my first and only US car previous to this JLUR was an AMC Javelin followed by a highly modified Fiat, so I guess I have come full circle with owning now a FCA product.
