I have been surprised by the 3.6L with the 8 spd. The way I drive it's been a very good combo for me. And, I'm quite impressed with the mpg's. Better than I thought they would be.I have the 3.6 and love it. Plenty of power, less complicated and love filling up with regular gas. The 8 sp tranny is a 10+.
OP, I suggest you test drive both if possible. We can give you info on what/why we bought the engine in our Jeeps, but you are the only one that an decide which you like best.
