I'm interested in your mods to your 2.0. Do you have a build thread or more info you can provide? Thanks!
Mishimoto intercooler pipe (14 ft lbs). Race Chips GTS Tuner (40 ft lbs). AFE Muffler delete & air filter (5? Ft lbs). Dynos are showing that Jeep is under reporting stock torque numbers. So if thats the case it may be at 315 (+-) stock. I also put in the Pedal Commander throttle modifier (no performance gains). I may put it on the dyno for giggles.

I'd love to see the dyno results too. Excellent! Thanks for the info.

Can't get that in a 2-door though...

When is someone going to come out with a tune for the 3.0? The same motor in the Ram has 38 lb-ft more... so I know there's potential.

Having owned 2 V6 JK’s now a 2 liter turbo I can easily say this is by far my favorite.
Same here, owned the mini van engine and the pentastar v6 and the 2.0T is awesome. I just got back from a 1900 mile road trip getting 19.9mpg on high way and 24.9 in the mountains. Half on freeway half in high sierras.

I'd like to see a tune north of 300 HP and pushing 600 ft*lb.

Turbo all the way. All I’m worried about is how reliable they will be post 100,000 miles

To the original poster, we can't answer your very important and never-before-asked question until both the V6 side and the Turbo sides of the argument choose their respective champions so we can finally have that "West Side Story" style knife fight (to the death of course). Hard to say who will ultimately prevail. Will it be the preppy V6 Horsepowers, or the blue-collar Turbo Torques? Only the victor will show us all which engine is best for you to choose for your Jeep.

Has anyone put a turbo on a Penstar V6?

Edit: Just did a catch up read on Turbo's and Superchargers on Penstar. Heat is an issue. Personally.....I dont have a power issue with my JL.....always looking for the latest and greatest......but I am generally happy with modest and reliable performance.

Neither. I think a lightly modded Subaru Forester would fit your needs perfectly

This has been my concern with 2.0 T, because it is direct injected and as with all direct injected engines, there will be carbon/oil deposit build up on the back side of the intake valves. The issue will not surface until well outside of any typical warranty period. The issue will require a teardown and mechanical cleaning, and it will affect the performance of the engine if not corrected. There are spray-in products on the market that claim to clean the valves but it won't be the same as a manual cleaning.

I am not bashing the 2.0, because it seems a great engine power-wise. However I had a 2017 Mustang ecoboost with the turbo 4 (also a great engine) but same direct injected setup. I put a catch can on my Mustang, and regularly pulled several tablespoons of oil out of it every 5K miles that otherwise would have gone right into the intake and over time and many miles, caked on the valves.

There is no known engineering fix for this because it is simply a function of the engine's design. The fuel squirts into the cylinder and does not wash over the intake valves first like a port injected engine. That is one of the ways you are able to squeeze so much power out of a 4 cylinder (along with the turbo of course)

IMHO, if you don't plan on keeping the jeep for many years and over 80K miles, then it doesn't matter and it will be the next guy's problem when he buys a high mileage 2.0T. Otherwise, plan on taking off the intake and valve cover and having the valves removed and cleaned, etc, when you get up to 80K plus miles.

Understood. and I'm not knocking the 2.0 either, but I love my V-6 Pentastar. I test drove a 2.0 and felt it to be jumpy, but that's just my opinion. As to long term problems, that's for history to determine. The 2.0 may turn out to be the better engine over all, but for now and for me, its the v-6.

So I have had both and have the 2.0 in my 2020 JLUR. Love it. Look at my post in what did you do today thread, and see all it did effortlessly around the San Juan Mountians. Not to mention between the 800miles of there, back, and wheeling for 3.5 days straight with 35’s up to 12.5hrs one day I averaged 20.5 mpg and 24-25 on the drive back home. Honestly I just love the torque and how it will chirp the 35’s offroad easily.
