I know where mine is but the Sport I have measurements for were on the spring mount plate.
just came from the dealer.
The Sport I References earlier was 9 7/8” I Measured a brand new Sahara the measurement was 9 7/8”
same measurement on a loaded Rubicon beside it 10 3/8” … 1/2” difference
My Rubi XR with 2.5” springs 11 3/4”
What does your XR measure from top of axle , like in my pic ?

My 2018 was 11-1/4” from top of axle tube to bottom lip of upper coil housing…. Like in this pic…….I measure this way before and after all lifts I install…. Shock eye to eye is also very accurate way to do it….

By your measurement points my XR with 2.5” springs is 12.5”. The lower spring mount plate is 1” above the axle tube.

Interesting…… that only puts you 1.25 over my stock Rubi measurement with your 2.5” springs…

Yup, that’s what happens when you put a big full width steel bumper on it. I’ve been suggested by RK to put 3.5” springs up front to compensate.

So these are similarly specced models, meaning a Rubicon sits 1/2” higher than a Sport from the suspension only (ignoring tires)?

Loaded Rubicon (steel bumpers and all) compared to a somewhat base Sahara and a 2dr Sport. So in this particular case the Rubicon is only 1/2” taller suspension wise in the front. The Rubi was level, the Sahara was Azz up so likely same height as Rubicon in rear.

A good place to measure would be from the wheel to the fender unless the fenders are different between trims. You never want to measure from the ground as tire pressure will change the reading. The bottom of the wheel is a constant.

need to have "measure to" points that are always the same no matter the trim.

At that point different suspensions and tires can be factored in.

like ground to door handles

I agree, the measure points need to be constant just like the measure from. That is why I said unless the fenders are different between trims. However, measuring from the ground is never a good way either just due to tire inflation. Measuring from there is not a constant either. Apparently, there is no good place to measure from on a Jeep.

Like the Jk the best and constant measure points are stated above.

- From front lower spring plate to upper coil bucket lip or shock eye to eye if you can do that but, with bigger tires it can be hard to do shock eye to eye.
- in the rear it’s rear lower bumpstop plate to frame.

Yah you can never get a constant and consistent measurement to the ground because that is dependent on tire size and tire pressure, your measurement has to be suspension only. The base line has to be set for you average stock vehicles and go from there.
