I personally had an issue a couple years ago and spend 1/2 a winter in 2wd due to a bad wheel speed sensor. When anyone of the wheel speed sensors go out the FAD will not engage so you have to do it manually. Hence my reason for bypassing the FAD. Either the 392 delete plate, the Dana/Spicer...
I have 4Auto option 3.5” lift, factory driveshafts and axles on 37s with factory 4.56 gears. I use MC Geometry correction brackets to get my caster over 5 degrees and have 0 vibe issues at all running down the highway in 4Auto or FAD bypassed.
I am curious as to what is causing your vibes. Do...
This argument no longer stands. As of 2024 the only model JLs left that have a FAD seem to be the Saharas. All the 24 Sports, Willys and Rubicons I’ve seen all have FAD deleted from factory.
The FAD was introduced for fuel economy, nothing more, and certainly not to reduce driveline vibration...
And done. The electric hoist worked perfectly for this application.. I like those rear hinge clamps posted but since my top doesn’t stay suspended they aren’t required.
it’s been awhile since I put the softtop on so it took a bit of thinking to remember what bolts went where. Lol.
Good now for...
Stopping the FAD from engaging would provide 2WD in 4Lo.
Not sure but the FAD bypass mode witt try h the Tazzer JL my do this. It would also allow you to use the rear locker in 2wd.
Here are the hooks I used to hold the hardtop.
Home Depot Tornado hooks.
For the rear : I had to bend the tab a bit and added some felt tabs to prevent scuffs.
For the front side this style worked better and did not require felt pads.
Thanks. Good idea.
I have a cart that I put the hardtop down on, push into the corner and cover. Which was another limitation to some hoists. Lots of them don’t have that capability of lower to floor level from a 12’ ceiling without replacing all the ropes.
For the last 15 years I have just removed or replaced my hardtop spring and fall manually with the help
Of one of my sons. But I hate to bother them as life gets busier. So I was considering just purchasing a hardtop hoist. Problem I ran into was I have 12’ ceilings and I don’t intend on leaving...
Data point 2, 3, and 4. My 2022 XR, and 2 club members with 21 and 23 XR all 3 are Rubicons 3.6L ETorque, 2 with plastic bumpers, one with steel, all 3 with tow package all three have same springs L&R.
They will be the same valving so in that aspect they will be the same, but the XR shocks are a bit longer. The difference between 392 and 3.6 or 2.0 suspension is in the springs and of course the XR series also offers the same differences between engines.
Those XR springs don’t hold up well. Mine sagged out bad, lost an inch, just putting a light bumper and winch on. Good thing I changed springs before changing to the heavier ARB bumper and winch.
This goes back to a long discussion some time ago. As you can see Mopar assigns their lift kit by engine size not by model.
The 2 door JK had softer springs than the 4door so it’s interesting that they would do the opposite on the JL.
As for different front springs on the 4door, that could be...
