Father had a truck (and car) garage, with pumps, I was a gas station attendant. Retired Trucker bumps tires on habitual walk around inspection. Tire knocker’s can be a handy “multi use” tool of the trade ?

I should have read further before posting question. You are also saying with the Tazer set at 25psi no alert until lower ? Do you just have to inflate to over the alert psi or a higher number like the factory 37 just to let some out ? ( on today’s list). The dealer surprisingly recalibrated for gears and tires as a warranty repair and I have no other use other than TPMS
With the tazer tpms set at 25psi, it doesn't alert until it gets to 22psi. Once the alert is triggered, you have to air up to at least 25psi for it to shut off. The idea that there's no other use for the tazer on a Rubicon is lost on me though. Maybe you want to only use your front locker? Now you can do that. Maybe you want to use the rear locker in 4H (or 2wd for us non-392 owners), now you can do that. Maybe you want to disconnect your sway bar at speeds higher than 25mph for those desert wash boards roads, even in 2wd, now you can do that. Personally I wouldn't own a Rubicon without the Tazer for all the functionality limitations it can bypass. Hell if it was just for tpms, I'd get good at ignoring that little light (already do a we have spent days in moab without going above 15psi).

As much as I get the benefits this old tech idget makes a mess of it enough to be tech phobic and needs a lot of incentive, but I am gaining the courage reading posts like yours. ? ? PS- been ignoring the light for a couple weeks now- Jeep sent me an e-mail to remind me .

Is there a fuse you could pull to deactivate and no light? Pita for sure.

Tazer or Jascan, which one does not require something to be left plugged in?

I've never used jscan, but if it offers live features like lockers or sway bar disconnect I bet it needs puffed in to do so. If we are just talking about setting tire size or tpms, technically you could unplug the tazer after you set those, but then you lose all the live functions. Why are people concerned about leaving it plugged in? Does your dealer swing by for random checks in the middle of the night? The tazer mini doesn't even plug in to the obd2 port it plugs in to the gateway bypass plugs up under the dash. Nobody would even know it was there. It takes all of 2 minutes to unmarry it and unplug it if you're going in for service.

If you deactivated the light Jeep would probably start sending you annoying e-mails telling you about it like they have me. No Win— Tazer courage level getting closer. ?

I've never used a Taser but from what I've read: If you unplug the Tazer you lose some of your settings. With a J-scan you don't lose your settings. If you take your vehicle to the dealership, it is a good idea to unplug your Tazer, why? If your Tazer is plugged in, the dealership will know it when they plug in their scanner and delete or erase all of your settings. Does this sound right?

I feel ya…. The original caveman here…. But owning/using Tazer for past almost 5 years now, and with help of some others on here, I’m pretty confident I could apply and probably get a job with the Geek squad….?

I guess what I’m trying to say is if I can do it, just about anyone can……? …. I set my tpms at 25, run my tires 30 warm ……

turn it off when get on the trail, turn it back on when I get off the trail, and air up….It doesn’t make sense to me to have it on bugging the crap out of me while aired down, it’s not like I can do anything about it if a tire is going down…I can watch it on the dash, or stick my head out and watch it, either way it’s going down….?

OCD pacified …….?

Regrettably I don’t know anyone experienced near me to reassuringly hold my hand and lead me through it.

I’m pretty sure you can handle it, you can pm me with any questions….. I’ll be paying it forward, as I burned up @Rhinebeck01 ‘s PM when I got mine, him and Joe @ZAuto himself which is very reachable for questions……

I appreciate it and will keep in mind…… Having just finished my routine of inflating to 37psi to get the alert off, then deflating to 32psi Again , the incentive is increasing every F’ing time I do it. ?

I know nothing when it comes to tazer or Jascan, What is live or not. It would be nice if someone could take the tpms out of the computer system.

I think you can disable TPMS with either device. I disabled mine with J-scan.

I unmarry & unplug the Tazer before taking it to the dealership because:
  • Whoever happens to be looking at my Jeep might decide to be an asshole and nuke my warranty. For most of us (with the possible exception of @Tredsdert) that would be "bad", as in "crossing the streams" bad.
  • There was some scenario where saved settings would overwrite new settings from a dealer update...or something similar. Maybe @Rhinebeck01 remembers the details?
