  1. Do I need new ball joints?

I have gotten more than 33k out of a stock set. Our 2019 had 37s and then 38s. The ball joints tested fine on the Jeep but were floppy when pulled. The 2022 only got 28k out of the stockers, but it's on 39s.
  2. Insane Audio Question

Could be worth it if it's a a throw away price. $200 or so, run it until it doesn't work and toss it.
  3. Tire Covers Rant - Holland/Barstool Sports/Tire covers com

I mean the minivan rides better on the street, handles better, and can haul way more groceries. I guess if your goal is to look the part the Jeep wins but I'd take a grand cherokee over a JL every day if I didn't wheel, although I'd wheel the GC too.

I'll agree to disagree on the waste part, not saying you must use things for what they were designed for but you SHOULD. You do you. As far as my flawed logic, you used the exact same logic in your original post I replied to. Just because you CAN do a 5 tire rotation doesn't mean you MUST. Of...
  5. Tire Covers Rant - Holland/Barstool Sports/Tire covers com

A waste is a waste, not my money or my problem. It's like trophy case firearms, exotic super cars that never get driven aggressively, or anything else. I'll call it like I see it but I don't worry about it at all. You could burn your money or your Jeep for all I care but it's still a waste...
  6. Best way to drive on REALLY slippery mud?

Low tire pressure (like 8-10psi not 20psi like when the tfl guys "air down"), wheel speed, and momentum. Creeping in thick mud leads to winching. Mud/deep snow/ deep sand are all the same. Use manual mode to keep the rpms and don't stop. If you can creep in it it's not thick mud.

No worse than letting the most off road capable vehicle available go to waste spending its life on the tarmac.
  8. Willy's JLU Bumper upgrade size issue

It clearly fits, a stubby bumper (front or rear) won't line up with the flares either. I'm not sure the front steel bumper with the end caps on even lines upb with the flares on the Rubicon as those came off day 1. The stock plastic front bumper on my mojave didn't line up either. I wouldn't...
  9. Adios fellas...

Absolutely. In the gym, trying to eat right. If I'm going to put 40 years in this trade I want at least 2/3rds of that in good, mobile, enjoyable, retired years.
  10. Adios fellas...

In no hurry to get there, but looking forward to it. 25 years in construction is starting to take its toll. Of course that could be that I'm on the road, running a swing shift 7x12s at a power plant and that's a lot more draining at 45 than it was at 25?
  11. eTorque Delete Option?

So it will be too complicated to change out 1 component on the trail should it fail so your solution is to rip the whole system out? Isn't that infinitely more complicated than changing a failed part? Even if you remove all the components and swap in a standard alternator I doubt the ecm is...
  12. Adios fellas...

I agree, too a point. I wheeled a full sized ram rebel on 35s for years. Add in the fact that what most perceive as "challenging obstacles" simply aren't. The telluride area trails are a perfect example. Black bear pass is rated a 7 in most guides. Even with some snow on the ground and the muddy...
  13. 37's or 35's on stock Rubicon

If you want 37s, go straight to 37s but rather than waiting 6 months to lift it buy a 2" spacer kit with shock extensions. Under $500, a half day install, and now you have proper clearance and bump stops for the 37s you really want. That's what I did on my gladiator mojave and the AEV kit even...
  14. Adios fellas...

I don't see a situation where you're taking a giant full size with low approach, departure, and breakover angles that you'll ever need front and rear lockers? We rarely turn on both in a JLUR on 39s running 8+ rated trails. These "trail" full sized trucks are really no more capable than any 4x4...
  15. Winch decision …

We've owned x-bulls on the last 3 Jeeps. No failures. They are amazing for the price.
  16. Winch decision …

X-bull 13.5k. Rock solid reliable, synthetic, wired and wireless remote, provided ultra hook with magnetic fairlead mount, delivered from Amazon in 2 days. Under $400.
  17. JL Audio Upgrade Issue

The metra pods have a spot for a separate tweeter if I remember right. You could return the 6.5" coaxial speakers and buy a component set with separate tweeter. I know it sucks to spend extra money but such is the mod rabbit hole. I don't think the sound should be that terrible with just the 6.5...
  18. Am I Good To Go?

They ride pretty good but have only 7" of stroke. You can fit a shock that has almost 10" of stroke up front with stock bump stops. 30% more travel for a few hundred dollars is a no brainer in my opinion. If you are willing to extended the front bump stops by 1.5" you could run metal cloak rock...
  19. JL Audio Upgrade Issue

No, that won't work. The tweeter has to be wired independently. That's not an option in a regular coaxial speaker. This is why trail seven includes a separate tweeter with the 6.5 for the soundbar. You are then using all 4 channels of the amp.
  20. Will Front Gladiator Rubicon 44 Axle Fit Sahara 2.0 JLU

The 2.0t makes plenty of power for 35s on the 4.10s which would save you half the cost of the regear. If you're going to 37s then I'd go 4.56s.
