I cannot even imagine an extended warranty that didn't cover the drivetrain. The engine is part of the drivetrain. It is probably the single most warrantied part of all vehicles. The oil system is part of the engine. Unless your extended warranty specifically excludes all external parts, I would challenge this.

If you have a friend in the legal profession, I'd ask for a second opinion. Dealers try this shady stuff all the time to avoid dealing with warranty companies and their oversight, then charge for pretty much anything they want.

For your reference, there is no part formally named a "vapor separator". It is a PCV valve and is a ~$38 part and literally unlocks and rotates out by hand. It is located at the rear of the passenger side valve cover.

Has OP confirmed it’s a 3.6?

Yes it’s 3.6. They told me they talked to the warranty company and challenged them that it should be covered .and warranty said no. I will look into a legal rep of you all think it’s worth it . I agree it should be covered.

Both the oil separator on the 2.0 and the PCV valve on the 3.6 would not be covered by most extended warranties. It definitely would not be considered a powertrain item.

I'd bet your paycheck to my weekly wine tab that a lawyer would refute that and get ruling to the contrary.

I do this every day. Warranty coverage is explicit, not exclusionary. Even the factory warranty wouldn’t consider the PCV valve a powertrain item, nor should it.

The PCV valve is explicitly covered by the 3 year 36,000 mile basic limited warranty. It is required by law as an emissions item to the covered for only 2 years.

Well yes, but OP said oil was full. I can’t understand how a failed PCV, that is not leaking externally, would affect oil pressure to any great degree.
Indeed, for PCV valve to impact oil pressure that much OP would have run out of oil and have a big nice external leak.

Isn't the PCV a 50 dollar item and can be changed in an hour? So your going to get a lawyer involved for 200 dollars in parts and labor??

Agree thought it was weird that oil level was fine and no oil under car .

They told me part is 400 and with labor total $1250. Another post stated it should be covered by warranty but many said no. I’ll just fix it and move on. My OP was because I thought it was unusual to not have a leak and have full oil and still a low pressure light.

It won’t and can’t.
