Jeep 392 crashed into Tesla

Force triggers the airbag (change in velocity over time). It really didn't look like that hard of a hit, and the damage seems to tell the same story.

Does anyone think airbags would have done something useful here?

That front bumper was crooked after the impact. Possibly the frame horn on the driver side crushed as it's thin and has some corner corrugations formed for that purpose. Also, the splash guard for the swaybar disconnect looks to be crooked as well.

Roanie, are you referring to the Jeep? Did you look at the link I provided in post #25? The optional OEM steel bumper on mine (and get a look at that Honda!) had only a plastic bezel damaged. Those bumpers are tougher than one would think. I saw the CRV’s rear-end first, and then had to do a double-take after looking at mine.

I am 100% in the boat that if I was in that 392 I'm definitely peacing out as soon as the Tesla rammed me and keeps going.

JL is absolutely at fault for the initial crash. That's not debatable. But everything after? Yeah I'd be outta there too. And I'd just call the police and report myself. I would realize that was a Tesla and it will have crystal clear video of the accident increminating me, but no way I'm sticking around after being rammed and the Tesla driving off all psycho.

Pretty much this. The difference is that I would have called the police just afterwards and explained that I just got in an accident and the other guy repeatedly rammed into me afterwards so I didn’t feel good stopping, but here I am!

I saw two cars play bumper cars after an accident in Pittsburgh once. Just started slamming into each other, trying to knock each other off the road. The rage did more damage than the first rear-ending.

So yeah, aggression means I’m leaving too, and that Jeep driver (while at fault) certainly had a reason to think there was some post accident rage about to kick in.

Who owns a tesla and doesn't have full coverage? That's just dumb. Obviously the Jeep was at fault for the initial accident, but self driving or road rage if you start ramming into me and driving off I would assume you're some kind of wanted felon, psycho, or drunk and don't want to deal with the authorities even though I was at fault. There's 0 chance I'm sticking around at that point either.

1st video looked fake, but the followup from the Sideview camera on the tesla shows the same result after the crash. The part that seems fake is a tesla owner that doesn't have full coverage is on social media looking for the Jeep that hit them.... that they then rammed, pushed out of the way, drive into an embankment and then drove off on video? The Jeep is guilty of an accident, the tesla is guilty of assault and fleeing the scene of an accident at a minimum.

In Nevada, we do not have to display a front plate if there is no mounting location/hardware on the front bumper for it.

I been living here for 20 and never had a front plate on any of my vehicles and never had an issue with LEO.

What defines “bracket, device, or other contrivance” … the plastic plate holder Jeep gave me could be screwed onto a drilled front fascia, but it didn’t come drilled ?

I'd say if there aren't mounting holes as if you REMOVED the front plate you're probably in the clear with that wording? In CA the dealer is now required to instal the front temporary plate probably for that reason.

Yeah- like the one on my Wrangler that is drilled a bit lower on the right side, but too close to be re drilled. The holder is straight, the plate holes are off.
