There's a lot going on here. The woman driving the Jeep is obviously at fault. I would think a savvy policeman could find the owner using facial recognition on that clip. Can't be many new 392s in that area either.

392 is a great Jeep at straight road for 100 yards then it's just any other Jeep.
Also no respect for a man having his girl drive him around.

I wouldn't blame the Jeep owner for considering this a road rage incident and fleeing.
I'd be in the same boat. If I were to hit someone then they rammed me after and drove past, I'm taking off. They could have a gun and be circling back around. I'd also report the accident after I felt I wasnt at risk. People are nuts today.

All that said, that woman in the 392 doesnt seem equipped to be driving that thing, wtf was she thinking plowing into a turn like that.

Looking back at the video, I'm pretty sure that's Alfred Hitchcock... so they shouldn't be too hard to find. :)

And given that Hitch died in 1980, I have to say he's looking remarkably spry.

There's a bit of an uncanny valley vibe in the OP's video, in particular, the appearance of the Jeep occupants' faces during both impacts. Their countenances appear videogame-ish.

If it's real, than it is, but it just doesn't look 100% to me.

As for the initial impact itself, the Jeep driver is definitely culpable, but the Tesla's subsequent punch needs to be accounted for, also, no matter if some sort of self-driving program caused it to occur.

I was wondering that too. The front bumper seems to be fine and the crush cans may trigger the airbag?
No the bumper was definitely pushed in some, mostly towards the bottom. That makes sense, because in a collision like this the jeep will hit above the bumper and wreck whatever body/structure is above the bumper line. Cars are usually not made for impacts with bumpers that high.

I imagine the crash was a fairly slow crash too like <15mph. Understeering into a turn like that would probably take a lot of speed off, and that road doesn't look like a particularly fast road? Maybe they were going 30-40 into that turn?

On plastic flapping in the breeze: Yea, I mean the front ends of practically anything that isn't a jeep or a pickup truck, are just plastic fascias. The actual structure is underneath them, and the plastic is thin (for efficiency and weight management reasons) and tends to just pop off like an egg shell.

Similar logic - if you crash a jeep into a jeep, or into a pickup truck, the front of the jeep will get demolished. The grille cover is thin plastic, the fenders are entirely plastic, the bumper on most is plastic, and there isn't all that much going on in the engine bay either.

Most jeep vs car aftermaths look pretty much the same. IDK why people cheer the jeeps on in those. People need to be more careful and realize driving can be risky and dangerous as hell if you're not careful.

This was my fault, but read this post, and look at the aftermath. The OEM steel bumpers are fairly robust. My damage was an $80 bolt on part. Same bumper as on the 392.

I agree jeep at some fault, but since the tesla appears to go full throttle and ram jeep, then lose its parts, is going to be very hard to say the jeep caused the damage, because the tesla actually did.
