Ha. No, I'm not confused. It is for property liability.
I won’t argue cause it’s your policy. But it’s not a coverage outlined by the FL DOI, thus I still believe you should ask to be sure. That said, I’d keep those UM/UIM limits if not higher anyway. FL state min limits are woefully inadequate

I'm in SC (not the OP who is from FL).Thankfully State Farm has a great way of updating coverages and quoting. I'm still using my agent to finalize it, but this is the change in price for the coverage change.

No, but over the years, I've had a total of 4 deer hit my cars and one car flipped end-over-end down the interstate 4 times, they never even questioned it, they paid my rental cars and all repairs minus my $250 deductible without a question.
Last fall my parked JLUR was hit by a sleeping Uber driver going about 60 mpg without hitting the brakes. The force of the impact pushed my Wrangler into my daughter's convertible Mustang totaling all three vehicles. The Uber driver was a Geico customer and so was I so I thought that taking care of everything would be easy. The entire process was horrible and in the end I lost about $12K. When the totaled 2018 JLUR was taken off my policy my rates went down $20/month. When I added my replacement 2021 JLUR to the policy, with the same coverage as my 2018, my rates went up over $100/month. Edit: I forgot to mention the most important part, the Uber driver survived the crash.

Yeah that looks like bodily injury on my UIM, max for my policy for property damage is 25k/$250 deductible.

Not saying you are wrong just saying my max I can see is 25k for property.

I don’t think I’d feel safe with my mom driving a crashed car knowing this day and age how they fix things. Specially if they have to fix structural damage like frame work, suspension, axles. Not to mention then the Jeep is considered crash. I rather mark it down as a total loss and get paid market value for a new one. I’m off to vet school and she is using mine meanwhile so we really are not in a rush to order a new one if this one gets totaled.
If it's a good shop, there's nothing to worry about with them fixing it. Body on frame vehicles now have frames designed to be sectioned out and have parts replaced.
I had everything from the back of the cab back replaced in a 2 month old F150. After they finished you would never know it was in an accident.

That 10K maximum payment is ridiculous. Maybe they got confused with the maximum they will pay for HIS damage, not yours. Otherwise I can't see any other way than your insurance pays and goes after them as you suggest. He's lucky he didn't run into a Ferrari or such exotics.

No my mom has geico. Just didn’t want to use ours because rates would go up, but it’s necessary if the other party at fault only covers 10k. We might have GAP insurance on the Jeep so will double check on that. Is there a chance that it can be marked off as totaled if it’s our insurance doing the fixing? Just don’t want them to start fixing them little by little how they did my first jeep and the total cost just kept rising. I think that’s why they didn’t total it in the first place. I could be wrong. All I know is that the preliminary cost to fix was 4K and it turned to 16k on a 2016 and it wasn’t totaled.
What is the fair market value of your vehicle? If repair costs come around 70% of the FMV, they will most likely total the vehicle. GAP coverage only comes into play if the vehicle gets totaled and the insurance doesn't cover the difference of the FMV and what you owe on the loan. Once you have positive equity on a vehicle, you should cancel GAP coverage (because there is no longer a gap).

Usually if you don't have inderinsured coverage on your policy, you are SOL for the remaining repair costs (I'm pretty sure GAP coverage does not come into play in that scenario). It's easy to find yourself in a bad spot if someone is under insured. Gieco will hire all the lawyers you need. They will handle the legal side. But at this point, get them involved. If you are not at fault, there is a good chance your premiums will not go up. Even so, it's going to be less than the out of pocket amount you will have to pay to fix your vehicle.

All that said, let's hope it's totalled.

I got T-Boned by someone who had no DL (unregistered alien) who was out joyriding his deceased brother's truck (which fortunately still had some ins). The limit on that policy was $10k and because I did not have full coverage I was SOL for the rest. And I didn't even get the full $10k because they prorated that between my vehicle and PGE for the telephone pole that I cracked in half. However, I approached the family and offered them 12 payments, no interest on the balance of my damages. Every month they paid me by money order. It was a handshake agreement and they could have walked away anytime but they were true to their word and paid me in full after those 12 months.

The best experience I ever had was with State Farm. I was rear ended. We exchanged info. I called State Farm when I got home. They called the owner and confirmed everything. Within 15 minutes of my phone call, the claim was approved and within a half hour I had my appointment with the body shop set up.

From my experience, the better companies are worth paying extra.

Hey guys my moms just got into a car crash and was not at fault. The other person took the red light. Police checked the cameras and gave the other person a ticket. Problem is the other persons insurance only covers 10k. The other company’s adjuster came and gave us an initial quote of 8k which Is insane. He told my mom that was based on preliminary inspection and it would go up when taken to a body shop. But they won’t cover over 10k. He didn’t include the bent frame, messed up axles, suspension and who knows what else is messed up under there. I have some experience with the extent of damage a crash can have. My 2016 jeep was also hit and what looked like nothing turned into 16k of repairs including axles. I want the Jeep to be totaled and get payed to get a new one. What should we do? Do we go with our insurance and then our insurance goes after them? Should I hire a lawyer? Any advice is welcome.
thanks!
Go with your insurance it will save time and heart ache! I use to own a body shop and this happens more then people think. Your insurance will get the first 10k from other guy's insurance then sue the guy in civil court for the rest

So if im ever in Florida and get in an accident that the other person is at fault, I need to steal their wallet?
They give anybody a license here in Florida.

Old and can't see... No Problem
Multiple DUIs.... No Problem
Dozens of unpaid tickets... Sign a payment plan, no problem.

Licenses for everyone! I take my life in my hands everytime I head out to work and Melbourne is quite tame. I'm from Tampa Bay and it is just wild over there, same with Miami.

Interestingly enough, our youngest daughter was rear-ended on a Friday night while sitting at a stoplight with dozens of other cars with their brake lights on in College Station, TX, the first month of her freshman year at Texas A&M. The woman who hit her was going over 45 MPH and claims she was distracted looking at the Target in a shopping center off to one side (we believe she was texting). Her BMW SUV was completely totaled, with full airbag deployment in both the BMW and our daughter's vehicle. Our daughter's 2015 Hyundai Sonata was totaled, with the impact so hard it literally tore a hole in the trunk compartment through the steel and shoved her into the car in front of her, damaging that vehicle significantly as well. Our daughter sustained trauma to her back that she will deal with the rest of her life and totally impacted her college time in a negative manner due to all the treatments she had to go through. Miraculously, her roommate with her in the passenger seat had no injuries.

The woman at fault had MetLife insurance at the minimum level. Our insurance was USAA, and they did a great job with the vehicle piece very quickly. When it came to medical expenses, however, it was a different story. The woman's insurance only covered a basic level and after that MetLife would not pay further. The woman had zero assets to go after. As a result--and this was totally foreign and strange--we had to hire a lawyer to essentially "sue" our own insurance company for the medical costs and beyond. It drug out for two years, but finally came to a conclusion where USAA paid for the medical bills and an amount beyond for future costs, though really it was not very much in the end.

Bottom line: I would definitely recommend hiring a reliable law firm to pursue this one to ensure you are protected as much as possible and cover all the related costs.

Hope you have a happy ending to the story, and sorry you are having to go through it.
