I just ran my Carvanna offer: 63% of what I paid new five years ago exactly. 2021 Rubi EcoDiesel with 25,500 miles. The OP's offer was just north of 50%.

Yeah forget about the OPs offer. It’s not something to base your thoughts on.

The days of eating very little shit on a used Wrangler regardless of the year, mileage, top, and condition (as long as it didn't piss oil) died with the JK.
With the JK? Used JL prices were insane during COVID.

Long story but will keep it as short as I can.

I have a 2025 Jeep Wrangler 2 Door, Extreme Recon Package. Joose. Sticker was $54k, paid mid 40's. Did a Carvana quote for giggles and then quoted me $23, 200 for it. It has 2500 miles and was bought just 3 months ago. This is CRAZY! This is $31k under sticker and about $20k less than I paid 3 months ago. Is Jeep resale really this bad nowadays? I even had to do a manual estimate and speak with someone at Carvana as it was so new. No damage, no issues, even had it serviced already.

the first hint was getting such a discount on the price from the dealer

No algorithm was involved in this. It was so new I had to call cabanas so called “experts” for a manual quote. Even sent them the window sticker
Ha! The "experts" simply plug the data into as many algorithm driven sites they can (MMR, NADA, local dealer bids, Carvana's own, etc) to generate a number.

2 doors SUVs are hard to sell. Really hard.

Orange cars (as much as we think they are cool) are hard to sell.

Your Jeep resale value is probably $30K-$33K depending on market and options. Which means that you will be offered $27K-$36K on a good day, with some low balls a bit below that.

If you care at all about easy resell of an SUV, don't buy 2-door, don't buy manual, don't buy funky colors, don't buy cloth seats. These are the things that make SUVs linger on lots.

remember, they're in the business of making a profit. look at what you can buy a similar vehicle for, and know that they're going to offer you less than that.

if you're actually trying to sell it after just 3 months, they know they gotcha'.

but, bottom line;
unless you're trying to sell it, what difference does it make?
fuggedaboudit until you're actually truly interested in selling.

Just checked mine via Carfax. I'm still underwater by about 5K, but honestly that's better than I thought given that I've been paying on it less than three years.

I just sold mine to Carvana yesterday so I figured I’d weigh in. I sold a 2018 2 door JK Sport S in Rhino, it only had 24,000 miles and was in pretty good shape. They gave me $23,000 for it. Carmax only offered just over $16,000 so it was a no-brainer.

Perhaps it’s based on my location and the algorithm is just giving you a bad answer but the title of this thread and OP‘s conclusions are melodramatic and won’t represent everyone else’s experience. I’d say mine clearly held its value and I’m quite happy with the sale.

I think that was just an “I don’t want it price”. If you really want to sell it or at least know the value, take it to a few of your local dealers (not just a Jeep dealer). I’ve had some luck selling cars to my local Toyota dealership and they came in about 4k higher than carmax on the last car I sold. Last month I traded in my 2 dr 2025 door Rubicon manual in on a new automatic JLR (I’m not going to be able to drive a manual for at least a year) and it ended up being around $4k less than I was into it for. I’ve never used Carvana but have noticed that carmax puts a lower number when things have been modified and probably the lowest on jeeps than other quotes I’ve gotten In the past. It’s also worth nothing that these companies use software to put a price on it so when they don’t have a lot of data (since it’s a 2025) they’ll use the previous years data. Your quote was still way lower than a 2024 though.

That was Carvana telling you they don't really want it. In 2 weeks you could get a completely different number. Look and see how many late model 2 door listings they have, and what that asking prices are. Also, you're color is polaraizing. Change the color to silver and see what the number is. Few people will want an orange one, but those who do will have to have it.
I found this out searching used for my 04 Rubi in 2013, and my JLUR in 2018. I love my Orange, and love any of the bright colors. But there's a reason there are so many white/ black/ grey ( counting all 21354q64427537365 shades of Grey Jeep made). The only thing that can be debated about this is similar to the manual transmission debate- Dealers order a bunch of "quick order packages" from the factory for stock, based on what they think people will want. I've seen more bright colored JL's around than previous gen Jeeps but honestly it could be a self fulfilling prophecy.

The market is stupid right now and Carvana/ Carmax will always lowball you HARD. We sold my wife's 15 RAV4 private sale to a friend for $12k last year. under 60k mi, Well maintained. Carvana/ Carmax told us $7k when she first checked the quote.

coincidentally, I was just on the Jeep.com site yesterday looking at 2 door JLWXRs... there were a ton in my area still for sale in different colors. 52K sticker marked down to 45-46K on 9/30.

I think your timing is just bad. I remember in covid I did the same thing with my JLR. it was worth 2K more with Carvanna the day I drove it home... it's not supposed to work that way.
