$429.00

With a 150 dollar rebate until the 15th. Makes it 279. Really hard to say no to that.
I'll take the $369 xbull that comes with synthetic line and the same specs any day. Not a fan of steel cable, neither are most these days which is why they are trying to give them away. By the time you buy a fairlead and synthetic line you're back over$400 again. Not a bad deal, but I'm not a warn fan anyway.

My apologies if I posted in the wrong section.

Wifey wants a stubby bumper and winch for her 2023 JLU.

I have poured over lots of vendors and YouTube trying to get the best bang for my $$$, but am not making any headway.

My questions are:
1. Best bang for the buck winch for a novice Jeeper / what to stay away from
2. Should I kill 2 birds with one stone tone and buy a bumper/winch combos?

Thanks, Kleetus

My $0.015 worth.

Yes, one can by the made in China/oversees stuff.

For my JLR figured since the Jeep is made in the USA, might as well by quality made in USA stuff.

Installed Artec bumpers and a Warn winch.
Yes, those parts cost mare than the oversees parts, but worth it.

Pro tip: When you buy your front bumper, see if you can get it without it being painted or powder coated. Then have it powder coated locally.

The nice thing about the Artec bumper is that you can reused the factory fog lights.

This is a 30yr old XD9000 that has been on 3 rigs. Never no oil or grease ever added to the line and no rust. And yes, that is the original steel cable. It's been used in the rocks, sand, mud, snow, dirt, etc. Pulled ford, Chevy, Dodge, Nissan, Jeep, even VW, logs, rocks, bushes, trees and I dont remember what else. Including a 1 ton pickup with big Ole camper on back that was way off the road.
Every part of it is still original, pretty much always outside and never covered. Probably used more than most winches. Probably even more than the new Warn Evo 10k I put on my Gladiator ever will.

Steel vs synthetic, both have their plusses and minuses, spend some time reading up on each, then decide on your own.
I know what my personal choice is. It comes down to the fact, I'll drag it through the rocks, dirt and sand, what I feel is too often for synthetic to last more than a few years.

I have several synthetic extension, so I know how to use and care for it. But I also have several quality chains for when I need those.

Get the badlands best bang for the $$$ I have run them for years with both synthetic and cable personal preference I usually run cable. I buy the 12,000lbs not to worried about weight my ecodiesel don't mind just my preference join the fast track club at Harbour frieght never had one fail yet. I do have one on my 12 Jk since new probably used it 60 or 70 times never an issue yet

i don't own either, but I'd rather deal with a retailer with physical stores literally everywhere than one that has none if I did have an issue. Hell in a pinch you could buy an entire Badlands if you needed say a solenoid for that moab trip you're leaving for in the morning and just return it when you're replacement solenoid showed up after the trip. Good luck getting that kind of turn around via shipping from anyone.
Agreed. Also, Harbor Freight *does* offer a $180 2-year extended protection plan which provides full in-store replacement.

Granted, that brings the price closer to the Warns, but it's an option and as you've stated, HF has stores *everywhere*.

Which is why I run xbull winches now. Amazon is literally everywhere and will deliver a new $300 winch tomorrow. I've yet to have a failure, but there's peace of mind knowing that cheap, quick, and easy replacement is one click away.

I have the Badland Apex 12,000 lb winch with barricade HD steel bumper that comes with the mounting plate in the bumper it's a little heavy but no complaints works great I paid 460 something for the winch (on Sale) and 600+ for the bumper

I've always been confused by the hate for steel cable. You don't have to wash the sand out of it, don't have to worry about the sun killing it, it's stronger, can drag it over the rocks at Moab, and a lot of times it's cheaper... Especially because you replace it less...
Or freezing….

I’ve only used smittybilt xrc, but lots of issues. 5 pin connector replaced, plastic solenoid cover got brittle in the sun, coating fell off in many places, had to pull gear set and swap grease, still a bugger to free spool. Orings decaying on motor bolts, failed solenoid, lol the rope and hook are good.
