To all the haters, back off. I have to drive asphalt canyon roads way more than I get to drive dirt. Santa Monica mountain roads five to seven days a week, and I love my Rubicon. Get the helwig rear sway bar, I know you’re losing articulation, that you don’t need on sand. I went to Accutune for some custom valved Fox 2.5 DSC’s for my trying to “add lightness” ride. Aluminum bumpers no winch. 33’s would be of help as well, accelerating and stopping better, plus maybe better mpg (not what we buy these things for…) believe it or not, I cross shopped a C-8 with the Rubi. Realized I’d have to go 90 mph in the Corvette to be entertained. With my Rubi, I’m ”entertained” at 60-65. And it’s a bit more useful and easier to get out of! Whatever floats your boat, IMHO.

ok, yes I expect hate mail on lowering but I drive mostly high speed twisty roads in mountains and tow - only about 5% flat beach driving (hence the F&R lockers and 35 inch tires). I want a little better handling on the highways - I would like to drop it just and inch or 2 with just 4 coil spring changes. I see information on coil spring rates but nothing on what the factory free lengths of the springs are.
What is the best approach - will the springs from a Sahara or other model do the trick ? I am very happy with the rate of the springs I have - it drives great and is not harsh - I think I just need the same rate spring - just shorter. I did take photos of all 4 spring tags can some one can decipher the rate and free length ? the dealers are useless on this, as we know and the 1-800 jeep line is worse than useless.
If another JLU set of springs can't fir the bill - who can custom wind these for me ?

I wouldn’t mess with your gorgeous Rubicon. When I first purchased my Rubicon and being a newbie to owning a Jeep , I also felt vehicle was way too high. And way too much work to get in and out of my vehicle . I realized the Rubicon rock rails didn’t provide any help to enter my vehicle to a pretty lifted stock SUV like the Rubicon.

My solution was to swap the rails out for the stock side steps found on the lower trims to keep the stock look. I’ve never looked back since and my Rubi still looks great and I didn’t mess with the integrity of the stock suspension.

Nice Jeep XR.

If you need some advice on how to lower the XR, talk to these dudes. They seem to have it down to a science. :D

Jeep Wrangler JL Lower a 2024 RubiconX Low Ride Der

Seriously, though, like other have said, start with a set of 33" wheel & tire takes-offs and see if you like the results.

Well...it IS called Cadillac Hill for a reason. With enough alcohol, many things are possible.

Either the standard Rubicon springs or Sahara springs will drop your XR. You shouldn't have any issues with geometry. Caster will get better the lower you go. Camber won't change with solid axles. Trackbars, tierod and draglink angles will get better and not be a problem. Lowering the roll center even a small amount will help with cornering noticeably.

I disagree that you need to cut the bump stops. The bump stops are set for tire clearance at full compression. Until you go to a shorter tire, or higher fenders, the stops can stay as is.

Agree with whoever recommended a larger/stiffer rear swaybar. But that will change the understeer toward oversteer. It will increase ultimate cornering until it's about neutral, then start loosing ultimate capability as you push further into oversteer.
