I have a 2018 Sahara JLU with 26,000 miles and it's been rock solid since new. At 15,000 she got a make over with lift, axle and 37's and still rock solid.

Since this thread has been bumped again, I figured I would update the poll results. It's looking now like the Sport is twice as likely to get death wobble as other models.

Percentage with Death Wobble as of 7/9/19:
Sport: 32%
Sahara: 18%
Moab = not enough data at this time
Rubicon: 15%

Thanks for running the poll. So far so good with my 2019 Rubicon.
I remember getting the 'Death Wobble' with my first car, a 1967 Holden (GM) sedan. Hit a pot hole and all hell would break loose. Touch the brakes and the wobble would generally stop. Hit another bump and away it would go again. Independent front end. Bad ball joints will do it on just about anything.

Thank you for participating!

While the general trend still shows the Sport model as being the most death wobble prone, all models have are reducing their respective percentages. This is possibly due to the corrections that Jeep made to the steering, and the delay for those corrections to reach the consumer.

Percentage with Death Wobble as of 8/21/19:
Sport: 23%
Sahara: 13%
Moab = not enough data at this time
Rubicon: 14%

In stock trim my 2018 JLUR (built in 6/2018) did not have any form of death wobble. Back in February a 2" lift was installed and metalcloak upper control arms and front and rear track bar were installed. Caster was set at 6.7. The Jeep drives straight and no issues in steering components.

Im sure this has been mentioned. I just got a Customer Satisfaction Notification saying that they will replace the steering damper for free.

Just a thought on the sports, they are the least expensive option out there, probably more of them sold than the others, could be why you are seeing higher numbers.

Also (knock on wood), I have always corrected death wobble by correcting castor with lower control arms and a good track bar torqued correctly.

This has been accounted for, and I am only comparing like-for-like models. The percentages listed above are calculated like this:
Sports with death wobble / Total Sports in poll
Saharas with death wobble / Total Saharas in poll
etc.

2019 Sport Unlimited (BONE STOCK, no modifications, not even an air freshener added) with 10,200 miles.... and just experienced death wobble 3 times this weekend. Will be taking it to dealer today to get the recall done on the steering stabilizer, but doubt that will correct it. We will see!

I was out in Colorado last week and rented a JLU while we were out there (because of course I did). The Sport we had felt a little iffy over some bumps in corners at highway speeds and then the dreaded death wobble hit hard mid-corner at about 60mph. Fortunately there weren't many other cars around, so I was able to coast and gently move onto the shoulder where it stopped around 30mph. It was the first time I've experienced it. It's certainly... unique.

Interesting. Of all forum users who responded to the survey, it appears (at least via the eye test) that Sports seem to have the highest instance of Death Wobble. I wonder if there is some design factor common among those models that would cause this, or if it is just the sample size of the data?

I answered the survey that I did not have the death wobble. However,I think I have a very small amount of wobble in the Rubicon.
The highways in Kansas are really superior to some of the surrounding states. Oklahoma and Colorado have rougher highways and I have a harder time with the wobble when I travel there.
