Lots of previous discussion on cause and solutions but I am curious how many of us JL owners have experienced Death Wobble in their current JL? Don't confuse DW with a little steering wheel shimmy aka bump steer. If you have had DW you would know as it scares the sh!t out of you.

Please take the poll and comment if you desire.

Steering stabilizer mounting bolt came off. It is a Fox 2.0 that the dealer installed with their Mopar 2” lift. I made sure Loctite was put on the threads of the new bolt. Never had a problem after that.

None so far, but I'm just coming up on 10K miles so it's a little early yet.

I have not experienced it I'm my Jeep but have experienced it as a passenger a few too many times. Scared the sh!t out of me. My friend steered to the shoulder of the road and it stopped each time.

I had a 2018 sport s that had death wobble. It took a couple of visits to the dealer before the service manager was able to replicate it.

They put a rubicon stabilizer on it and it went away. I’m now in a 2021 rubicon and have not experienced dw!

Checked that my steering stabilizer was not loose. First time it happened, the stabilizer was very loose.

Prior to this past week I was in the 2-4 range. I have 44k miles on my 2021 JLUR. Up to 40k miles I not had the slightest hint of a shimmy let alone DW. Then I got a lift in early November and I've been battling both ever since.

I had literally just created the following thread and this poll was the next thread I saw. My shimmy/DW experiences are detailed in this thread.

No death wobbles, but bump steers a few times. They scare the shit out of me each time, especially if there are any vehicles around me. The worst are when the road is wet. I just imagine myself sliding right off the road when it happens ?

A death wobble experience might cause a nervous breakdown and I'll end up selling it...not really...ok maybe. I'll have to get back to you on that one if it happens ?

And a question to those that have not experienced DW... how many miles and have you off-roaded/rockcrawled much?

My steering wheel was off center after completing the Rubicon Trail last fall. Just after leaving South Lake Tahoe on our way home, I hit a bump just right and my Jeep did the death wobble thing, forcing me to slow down to make it stop. Luckily, our hotel was just a few miles away. I checked things over in the hotel parking lot that evening and found that the bolt where the trackbar attaches to the axle had come loose. I repositioned the trackbar so that the steering wheel was straight again and tightened the bolt. I have never had the problem again.

None in my JL but unfortunately, I experienced DW in my TJ once. It scared me so bad I couldn't remember how to get home.

I haven't really messed with the suspension system enough yet to experience any death wobbles. But I've seen some pretty heinous ones!

Earlier today, was driving down 75 to head to Lewisville Texas, saw a white Wrangler on the frontage road, serious death wobble. The dude hit his brakes and slowed down and it corrected it, but like for a second there I thought the dude's wheels were going to come off.

Shocker, it was a lifted JLU on at least 37's.

I know there's multiple causes of the death wobble, but I swear half the ones I see are usually because someone put a lift on there, but didn't swap out any of the other parts related to the suspension system.
