The wheels are in motion. Had the dealer and body shop look at it. They body shop will forward their info to the dealer at which point it will be submitted to warranty. The body shop is scheduling out until mid Jan 24 at this point.
Corrosion warranty work approved and scheduled for Jan 2024. I will say the dealer did not drag their feet on this one. The estimate for the repairs is over 5k. Yikes!

This post isn't directly associated with the paint/corrosion issue but, more of an interesting analogy from FCA related to my 2020 RAM 1500. Apparently, the 1500 RAM trucks have had an ongoing problem with the upper Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL) and water intrusion into the cabin. According to the letter, FCA is extending the original warranty coverage to 10 years or 150,000 miles. It seems to me that if FCA and by extension Stellantis, is (are) willing to work with customers on this problem they should be willing to address the problems more directly than I feel they are with the Jeep brand corrosion issues.
Thoughts?

Never thought id be saying this or replying back to this thread, but here i am.

The fucking bubbles are back boys! Even after the doors were fully stripped, sanded, prepped, painted, everything....i have fucking bubbles back in the god damn paint near the hinges and bottom of the doors. I literally havent driven my jeep over 5,000 miles since i got it back from the paint booth in May of this year.

Im fucking sick of this shit. How in the absolute fuck was it not fixed when they repainted it from BARE metal. They even used the upgraded hinges, they didnt use the OEM or stock ones. Of course i was pretty upset when they sold me the car with the paint already fucked up and bubbling, and thank fuck they didnt charge me a dime for the warranty work. I thought id never have to worry about the paint again, but here we are.

I will be going back to dealer between thanksgiving and christmas and will try to negotiate they buy back my Jeep. I fucking love this car but i dont have time in my life to be taking this thing into god damn paint booth every 6 months. Or worry about engine knocking on 87 octane, but thats another story.

Cant wait for that $3.15 class-action lawsuit check when it finally clears in 2038. Fucking lazy, incompetent, greedy douchebags. Imagine how fucking cool this car wouldve been if they actually valued quality instead of shoving the consumers money right up their assholes.

I've been waiting several months (since before the strike) for a set of doors for the approved good will repair of my 2018 JLU. About a month after those were ordered, a set was also approved and ordered for my 2020 JT.

After seeing reports of tens of thousands of dollars spent on some of these repairs combined with the lack of replacement parts, how long will it be before we are offered cash settlements in lue of repairs like Ford did with their unrepairable Focus transmissions. I keep thinking about what the settlement amount would be for me to live with the problem.

My 2021 JLU Extreme Recon has bulbs on the hood. Dealers say to wait before my warranty is over and get it all done at once.

Anyone think Jeep will truly figure this out on JLs? My thought is that at this point, they'll be focusing on the JM/J70. Hopefully they don't repeat the same mistake. I'd like to get back into a Jeep (miss my '22 JL) but not with this cancer.

Any 22's with these issues yet?

I had seen that Jeep sells the outer skin to the doors as "steel". Maybe it was a typo from the website I saw. But it's possible that aftermarket steel doors, hoods, hinges, etc... Would permanently fix these issues.

The steel doors on the JK's could still have corrosion (rust) issues.

Yep - might need to dump my 2020 before the corrosion gets very noticeable and then reconsider a replacement in a few years…. My use case doesn’t require my current build….so disappointing.

This is exactly why I got rid of my Rubicon during the pandemic and bought a rock bottom cheap Sport for $32,000.

30k is UTV money nowadays, so when this thing has enough paint peeled off, I’ll toss the doors in the trash and use it as a UTV.

Those who daily drive their Jeeps and paid north of 50k for them, I’d sell yesterday and stay away from the brand until this is settled.

From what I've read, it was only on the aluminum hinges. The doors were fine.

Swapping out aftermarket steel hinges fixed the issue. Now they made the doors and hinges prone to corrosion. ?

I have had personal experience with rusty steel JK doors.

Isn't 2024 supposed to be the "refresh" year? Dare we dream that this will finally be addressed.

Just made an appointment to have mine looked at. All four doors, the front edge of the hood, and the tailgate hinge are exhibiting the bubbling. Though it is almost 5 years old, it has less than 36k on it and has been kept immaculate. It kills me that they have not come up with a foolproof remedy as evidenced by the many recurrences. I think it may be tIme to get her fixed and move on to something not Jeep.

I am bummed as I really like it otherwise (I LOVE Mojito!) and had plans to hold onto it a long while.

Dealership body shop looked at my 4 doors and will schedule repair. Estimated cost to Jeep $2,775. Said they were only repairing the paint at the hinges where there is corrosion (which is legitimate) and the rest of the door would be factory paint which on mine is scratched all to heck. Will be interesting to see how they blend it to look ok. But glad it’s getting scheduled and repaired.
