  1. Ranking Every Generation of the Wrangler

I voted TJ long term, but think a current JL is the best Jeep today. Once a Jeep hits say 15-20 years old, then I think the TJ wins not just Wrangler, but all time as in 41-24. I’ve owned them all and if I take away styling and intangibles, then objectively the TJ is probably the best Jeep of...
  2. Toyota to Jeep...yes or no?

I’ve owned 5 Tacomas, 2 4Runners and 7 Wranglers (all two doors). The Tacoma is better in every way. A 4Runner is better than the Tacoma. However….the top and doors do not come off. One good day in a Jeep with the top and doors off is worth putting up with its short comings the other 364...
  3. Do I Need to Regear a Manual Sport for 33's?

If you’re never going over 33’s, just sell the Sport and buy a Rubicon. You’ll spend 3k on a re-gear, and 1k on tires and still have open diffs, smaller axles, no sway bar disconnect, and no 4:1 transfer case. You could easily sell the Sport and take the 4k saved and apply it to a Rubicon and...
  4. When did Wranglers start getting fuel injection and computers?

Don’t delude yourself. I’ve owned dozens of open top Jeeps in my life and the older you go the more of a PITA they become. Points, rotor, cap, condenser, dwell, timing, carb tuning for weather and altitude, ethanol fuel destroying things and clogging jets, and on and on.
  5. Coolant Leak / Radiator Replacement Question

Yeah I have no idea of the specifics of these systems, but the thought still applies. The cooling system is a critical component and is unforgiving of errors. I’ve seen reverse rotation water pumps installed on applications that needed standard, I’ve seen thermostats installed upside down...
  6. Coolant Leak / Radiator Replacement Question

Make sure you burp the system after the swap. Run it with the radiator cap off until the thermostat opens and the coolant level drops, refill and close it up. Replacing a radiator isn’t a big deal unless you do it wrong and you overheat the engine and blow a head gasket or warp a head. Then...
  7. I need some advice...

The cost of capital is not going down, and will in fact probably double in the next 10 years. Half of the baby boomers have already retired, liquidating their portfolios. The other half is retiring now. All of that money is being pulled out of the system and used for living instead of...
  8. Buying/Selling

Do not ever buy a vehicle sight unseen. Ever. It’s never worth it. Plane tickets are cheap, fly out and put eyes on it yourself. If it’s an item like a bumper or something like that, then roll the dice and use PayPal. Not something I would do, but the risk is lower. Ask him to send a...
  9. Depreciation

It also will vary greatly depending on vehicle options. A base 6 spd 2 door Rubicon will depreciate substantially less than a loaded 4cyl Auto. It’s all about the comparable vehicles for sale at the time. You want to be the cheapest house in the neighborhood, not the mansion in the trailer...
  10. We want to hear from you!

    1. Vinyl floor covering and vinyl seat options. (Colored options outside of black due to heat with the top off) 2. Half doors as a no cost option. 3. Greater variety in options a la cart. Locking axles, gearing, etc outside of trim package. 4. On board air compressor option. 5. Factory...
  11. Jeep Resale. Not what it used to be.

All vehicles are down right now. My 2016 4Runner had offers of 30k during the pandemic, now it’s 20k. That is a little low, realistically it’s a 23k vehicle, but that’s exactly where it should be. I think Wranglers are going to take a bigger hit than some due to most people who even remotely...
  12. Driving on snow and or ice on interstate roads

Holy sh*tballs Batman! Why on earth would you be driving “over 50mph” on ice? Even if you are in a vehicle with dedicated snow tires that has the traction, the other clowns out there with you are not. A fatality accident that isn’t your fault is still a fatality. Like others have said, engage...
  13. 23 Sport retro wheels and decals

I had to wait some time like you to find them in stock. I ordered the Jeep in November of 22 and it didn’t come in until Feb 23 so I had time. As soon as they came in stock I ordered and stored them in my garage.
  14. 23 Sport retro wheels and decals

Nope, since they are the same diameter as stock, no correction is needed.
  15. 23 Sport retro wheels and decals

Nope, no issues at all. The wheels I put on were wider than factory and offset differently as well, so the Jeeps track width is now wider than stock, I think I’m sitting at the same track width now as a Rubicon that has the wider factory axles…..but I haven’t double checked that info for this...
  16. 23 Sport retro wheels and decals

Same diameter as stock, but a little wider. So from a gearing standpoint the Jeep doesn’t perform any differently than it did with the 245’s. I’d still like 4.10’s or better, but the Jeep is acceptable as is. It performs as well or better than all of the other Jeeps I’ve owned outside of the...
  17. Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

This is exactly why I got rid of my Rubicon during the pandemic and bought a rock bottom cheap Sport for $32,000. 30k is UTV money nowadays, so when this thing has enough paint peeled off, I’ll toss the doors in the trash and use it as a UTV. Those who daily drive their Jeeps and paid...
  18. Am I crazy? Thinking of selling my 2020 Rubicon...

Ask yourself this question….would I be selling this Jeep if today was April 16th and the trees were green and birds were singing. If the answer is still yes, then sell it.
  19. Are the 21’ + Wranglers pretty trouble free now?

I currently own both a 16 4Runner with 89,000 on it and a 23 Wrangler with 3500 on it. If I had to drive around the world tomorrow I’d take the 7 year old Toyota. To me there is absolutely no comparison, one is a chintzy toy, and the other is a precision tool.
