I'm all for gearing on the slightly higher side as I do push freeway+ speeds on long road trips, but 3.45s and 42's? Why go to a 44 now if proper tons are the plan anyway? Unless the 44 was free it seems like pissing money away for an axle that may result in the exact same failure shortly after install if driven aggressively?
Dude was runnning 42s on 3.45s and a stock D35 and youre questioning his spending habits?

I have a 2019 Sahara Unlimited with 32k miles on it and I had the ring gear absolutely shred to pieces while driving on asphalt…..never off-roaded. I went to my local dealership and was told “any modifications void warranty,” and I said that’s not true, that you have to prove it, I found the act “1975 Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.” Explain to me how I am denied by a dealer before they even look into the issue. @JeepCares

42s on stock sport/sahara axles. dont waste your time fighting, you will not win this case. Get new axles.

A D44 will absolutely fail in the same way.

A D60 isn't enough for a 42" tire. A 42" tire to a 60 is the same as a 40" to the 44.

It's pushing redline of the axles limitations. Even the ProRock44/60 set (JL version) has a max 38" tire recommendation. The JK version of the ProRock44/60 has a max 37" tire recommendation.

The 60/60 set-up from Dynatrac is for a 40" tire.

The OP absolutely needs 60's a minimum. For true reliability; an 80, 14 bolt, or equivalent is needed.

Anything less on a 42" tire just isn't enough. Too much cost involved to gamble.

I run a 40 on a 60/80 set-up. I couldn't imagine a 42 on a 30/35... play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Lol
Yep. I'm running a truss front and rear on my stock axles with 37s. Reinforcing the differential housing reduces case flex and gear deflection.

But for my truggy that will be on 42s...

See those horizontal gussets cast into the center housing? That's the load path for the pinion/ring deflection.

That's why you run a Dana 80 or something like it for big tires.

I don't see any way of running 42s cheaper unless you hang 1 as a tire swing?
I wonder if you can get a tune that limits the motor to about 100 lb-ft. Like valet mode, but for Jeeps.

With the 3.45 gears, taking off in 2nd gear would probably be enough to keep the axle alive since it's a street only Jeep? But then why would you own a street only Jeep regardless of tire size?

Interesting to see the rpm’s on a Highway lol seems stupid to go that high for some stock tires
I've done my research, 35's on 4.56 would give me what I'm looking for on the 6MT. 35's aren't stock on the sport. I'm not a huge fan of the gearing on my stock 31's.

For me 4.56 is it when I get my 35's. I wouldn't want to go any higher than 4.56 on my front axle without going with a Dana 44.

…5.38s in a trussed 44 I’ll be fine with since it’s an on road strict jeep. End plan is 60 front and 12 bolt rear and 14” coilovers. That’s about 6 months to a year out.
Yup. That should be more than enough to get you safely to the mall and back.

Alabama is only a few hours away and there's great wheeling there. I love Jeeps for what they are, but as a road only suv, there are so many options that are so much better. Hell at least drive the thing on the beach sometimes.
