Keep in mind the Warn Evo 10 is on sale for $269.99 from Northridge4x4. If you want synthetic rope you can order your choice of color, diameter rope from Amazon and there are a few different lengths to choose from. A Warn winch with synthetic rope of choice, say around $350. Winner, winner, chicken dinner.?
this is exactly what I did. Northridge had it at my door in four days, in the meantime bought a synthetic rope off Amazon for less than $100 and it took 10 mins to swap out

Plus, you have the left-over (new) cable, I sold mine for $50 on craigs, that brings it down to about $300 total. ?

I'm trying very hard to refrain from ordering one myself. I bought a Badland about 5 months ago for the same price. I'm not knocking Badland but I've always wanted a Warn. When I saw the Warn on sale, I felt like Griswald when he couldn't get the damn lights to work.

I am waiting for this one. For how much I use a winch, I would buy this one all day:

Funny, last time I was on the trail (October) I ran across a young boy stuck in the mud, he said can you pull me out I said sure, so I start getting my winch ready, he said no, just pull me out you don't need all of that. I said pull you out how? He said just hook up your rope and put your jeep in reverse and pull me out. I said I don't use my transmission to pull vehicles out of the mud that's why I have a winch. He said Well, I'm late for my soccer game I don't have time for this I need to get going. I said, I pull you out with the winch or I'm leaving. He said, you'll actually leave me here. Yes!

I couldn't believe this was happening what's wrong with people...........

What a punk. Especially expecting you to pull him out while you are in reverse. That's the best way to strip the front axle ring gear teeth.

I didn't even know that, but I had read and heard of people basically destroying their transmissions while trying to pull people out of the mud, ditch, etc. I don't want to be one of them, compared to a transmission rebuild a winch is a fast, easy, inexpensive fix.

I got that punk out of the mud, he jumped in his jeep and drove away pissed off.

When in reverse you are putting pressure on the coast (weak) side of the tooth:

I cheaped out on my first Jeep TJ and bought a Schmittybilt winch. It broke winching a small log down a hill for firewood. It always sounded like it had gravel in it! ? I replaced it with a used Warn XD9000i that was way older than my TJ. Best winch I've ever owned. Fast and quiet. I put another Warn on the the JT, and recently a Warn 10S on the JLUR. Yep, Warn fan boy here.

That's good to know, thank you, I sure appreciate the information. ?

I have no doubt that little s**t head would have been fine with me destroying my transmission as long as he could get to his soccer game on time.

Until I have a Badlands Apex die on me, I'll hold off on Warn. I'm well aware of the whole "buy once cry once" "Warn or die" response train and I have no doubt they're justified. I'm not saying it's over hyped or anything of the sort. I just have yet to be proven "the error of my ways" using the Badlands Apex. I've never been in a situation that it's failed me or failed anyone using one that I know personally. ?‍♂
