no reason to have a fancy hook up. i just use a soft shackle when the winch is needed. Plan on switching to the freedom line when mine fails

Bloody nose???
Yes, it's since been removed as it faded. I thought of it more like a tongue when looking at it. The rope guard is on my list at the next Jeep show.

Just bought a Flat Link E but thinking I might go ultrahook route.

I'm a solo run type of guy and don't get into too difficult terrain. Love snow though. If I'm winching, 90% chance it's a connection to a tree saver for a quick pull. Flat link e obviously would do the job no problem but seems a lot easier to just use the hook on the ultrahook.

Would also remove the need for a shackle and one less part is a good thing.

I think the flat link e is a better option for winching out other vehicles though.

I also really want to like the Warn Sidewinder, but the fact that it can't connect to a tree saver is a deal breaker since again that's my expected use of the winch.

From an objective engineering position I can still see why the guys that don't run metal on their einch ends do it. Makes total, logical sense. But I also just don't see something like factor55 products failing either when used properly so perhaps no hook is just a potential solution to an improbable problem?

Serious question: anyone experience any actual failure - big or small - with factor55 products?

I have the Flatlink E. I think it is the right tool and no doubt, more than I needed to spend. The ultrahook? You have to ask yourself how many times you will use it and also need the convenience? Are you a professional? 90% of folks rarely use their rescue gear and when they do, they don’t know how best to deploy… but they can show off the extra $100s they spent.

My opinion… stick with what you bought. If you ever get to many situations where you say… this isn’t workin… I can do better… then upgrade and sell your barely used equipment.

I went the ultra lightweight and less connection point route.
This is the only way to go. You can remove the SS if theirs any risk of scraping the hawse fairlead. Or just take the chance because SS are cheap. With the Rope Thimble removed, you can use a Offset Winch Snatch Ring, any other snatch ring is obsolete. Impossible to come off like the old fashioned snatch rings when the recovered rig gains momentary traction and jumps forward. I've got two of them so I can easily rig 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, and 5:1. I carry a spare 50' and 100' winch rope. You can chain them per the yankum videos so with 2:1, I can still recover 90' away.

Has anyone installed the Ultrahook on a '24 JLUR with the factory installed winch, any issues adding it?

no hooks or ferrules for me, just a loop and soft shackles. Maine requires a front plate so I built a quick release for my license plate and running with out a hook I can tuck the rope back through the fairlead and keep everything nice a clean looking, have the same setup on my 24 two door. My JK has a winch on the front and rear but no hooks on any of them, never miss them either.

Here’s my no-hook set up = a longer bolt, a sleeve, and a washer.

+ a soft shackle when winching

Smart, VERY SMART. I don't soft shackles but if did I would do it the way you have done and recommend to that LLANERO has done it correctly.

Thx old Jeeper. If you don’t like soft shackles, you can use a d-ring with the same setup.
Here is my set up: WInch Thimble, 26,000 lb rated rope and a big D ring. If I am pulling I am pulling LARGE out of rivers, Pritchett Canyon, Jeep the went over a cliff (and landed upright, not to much damage) but it was difficult pull as the drop was about 20-25 ft. I have saved a lot of Jeepers on some gnarly trails.

This is the original Winch Thimble, Patented.
