If you end up getting an alignment, make sure it’s a shop that knows jeeps well. I made the mistake of taking mine to the trusted neighborhood shop and they had no idea what to do. Worse, they didn’t tell me, charged me and “lost” the before/after alignment sheet. I trusted them but the Jeep...
I lock them out of habit, and also sometimes have the uppers on bc of the weather.
that said, I haven’t re-keyed and plan on entering through the back if ever needed. I’ll be made fun of forever if that ever happens though 🤣
Many cars, EV or not, are applicances. or that’s how they feel to me at least - my old i3 had a quirky character at least, while driving the current Volvo XC60 is downright dishwasher-loading level of boring (with the exception of the failing tech nannies ghost-braking every now and then)
I think the sticker you mention is a zinc shim precisely to avoid the corrosion between dissimilar metals that is the issue with the original setup.
in any case, adding more layers in form of paint and 3M is a good idea IMO and I might steal the 3M part which I don’t have yet.
I definitely would like to see the detail behind this chart - I imagine pricing of repairs/parts would have a big impact, seeing how different Toyota vs Lexus is, for example.
Cheaper, more frequent fixes could be at the top (my thoughts on Tesla, I imagine they just cover a lot of the initial...
This thread is gold - you all made me laugh out loud all by myself here 🤣
so, OP this is why you would chose a Jeep besides wanting the offroad capabilty: it comes with a bunch of funny crazies who post here (not including myself, I’m not funny)
If I were to come up with a color selection it’d be sth like this:
permanent/no cost:
Sting gray
Sarge green
Gobi
Ocean Blue
Firecracker red
rotational/extra cost:
White
Black
Silver
Forest green
Nacho orange
Hella yella
Tuscadero pink
Hydro blue
Bikini blue
Inca gold (not sure about this...
I don’t disagree that Jeep needs a better lineup! I’d think that they could “tarnish” the wrangler name by creating his grand wrangler you mentioned.
It could be a mix of the current GC and the JLU - similar to what Toyota has done with the Land Cruiser (would compare to the grand wrangler) and...
If they don’t fix it under warranty, consider replacing the LSD for a mechanical one from Eaton. no clutch means less potential of it happening again!
There is always the option to risk to return the 4xe and then reacquire/negotiate, no?
If the buy option you have in your contract is way over market they won’t get that money anyway.
I couldn’t find one that got my CPA’s ok unfortunately 🤷🏼‍♂️
in hindsight I should’ve pushed, but I also was enamored with the idea of electric local driving back then
When I checked back in 2022, only the 4xe classified - but essentially if the door jamb sticker says GVWR of 6k lbs or more you’re technically good, IIRC.
Don’t take this as tax or accounting adivce by any means though 🤣
I run my half doors without the rear SOT windows three seasons (I’m late this year) and I have one of these under the rear seat in case I park somewhere where it could rain badly. At home I put up a 20x12 carport/tent and the Jeep lives under there - bonus is that I get to work in the shade vs...
I've read enough horror stories to suggest replacing the OEM batteries with sth better... and as a single data point, my '23 JLUR 12V battery died with less than 1k miles in just a few weeks from owning it and I replaced the battery for a better aftermarket one (I ended up having to lemon-law...
I've encountered this a few times, and I've had some luck holding the nozzle about 90 degrees counterclockwise/with the handle at 3 o'clock. Seems to click less often, or it could just be in my head, but... it's free and easy to try at least!
I bought one of these used, removed it from the box (too bulky for me) and added a trailer plug and anderson connectors to be able to run from either the battery posts or from the 7-pin plug in the back.
made for an interesting project, but I haven’t used it much yet as my offroading plans...
after reading @Heimkehr’s post my head went directly to concoting a complex pulley system that would allow you to use the winch to get the Jeep in/out… and here you with your practic solution to ruin all the fun! Haha
