I was in the process of ordering a two door when I found a 4 door on the lot with the same specs, at almost the same price.

The problem is, I now almost have to have the space, even if I didn't have kids, due to all the gear I haul around (fishing/kayaking/hunting/biking etc).

If they stretched the wheel base if the 2 door just a little bit, I'd be right back at a 2 door for my next one.

We have one of each!

My 2-door is my daily commuter and occasional weekend wheeler (couple times a year since trails are far). It's great for parking in the town I work in since it's very congested; the little JL fits in tight spaces. The 2.0 averages about 20mpg in my 10 miles of stop-n-go traffic commute. I've had the back seat folded up for quite a while cause it's either me and my wife, or me and my daughter going somewhere. If her friends have to come along I can fold the seat down and passengers can hop in.

If my son is along for the ride (family road-trip style) we'll take my wife's 4-door. Plenty of room for luggage and the 4 of us. My wife prefers the ride quality of her 4-door over my 2-door. I'll agree, the longer wheelbase helps it ride smoother for sure. Still trying to convince her it needs a Rubi suspension swap and 33's when her stock Goodyear A/Ts finally wear out ;).

I had 3 TJs and a YJ and admit I was anti 4 door-not a real Jeep, lame, just buy a Grand Cherokee, etc. Now that I have one, I actually love it. I have kids and they hated climbing into the 2 door. I like the extra room, feel it will fit my long term needs better and I like that- to me- it feels more planted(likely also because it's a 4Xe).

2 doors are love 2 doors are life. The 4 door Wrangler is the true compromise.

lucky for us, we just got our first Jeep last year, and the kids have been out of the house for a long time now, so we never had to do the 4-door thing...............aren't they just like mini-vans on steroids anyway........???

Love the 2 door, have driven many of both, but the 2 door is so fun and nimble to drive. This is the 2nd jeep we have owned, first was a 1985 CJ7 Renegade... wish I still had it. Fast forward 37 years and we have a 23 JL 2 door of course... glad to be back in a jeep!!

Been driving 2-doors my whole life starting with a (real) Willys MB, M38, then various CJs, and a 1999 TJ. After all that, it was unthinkable to switch to a 4-door, so I continued the trend with a 2-door Sport and enjoy it very much. That said, I would never disparage a 4-door, as it occupies an important space in the Wrangler market, and I would probably buy one if my wife and I ever downsize to one vehicle. Love both versions for sure!

Any of my fellow 4 door Jeep owners relate? Sometimes, I wonder why I got the 4 door. A two door sounds like a lot more fun, especially thinking back to my YJ/TJ days. Now I don’t have kids, so there is that. My dogs don’t take up much room. It would be nice to have a shorter top to take down. Just day dreamin over here!
I do. I owned three 2-door JKs before. But my other vehicle is a 2-seat roadster and I have to carry people on occasion. Plus this 4-door Sahara has been so comfortable and trouble-free. It is the perfect winter road trip vehicle.

Never owned a C Dan in my life, not gonna start with a 4 door Jeep. I consider a 2 door Jeep a Luxury just having the doors. Half my Jeep days none of my Jeeps any doors...

A few things with a 2 door. The seat trolly is garbage and you should buy a spare set. Then the seat handles to open up those seats to get someone in the back will break too. Now I got to change out a seat handle but at least I got a set of spares for the seat trolly sitting in the center console.

If you want to do parallel parking and shoehorn that Jeep in, it's the best out there.

I think I'd be interested in test driving a four-door. Just to see how it feels. But, it was never really a consideration for me. I made sure my regular passengers would be okay climbing into the back of the two-door, and I don't usually haul a lot of people, so I don't need the fifth seat. I also made sure some of our oft-used "mall crawler" type gear would fit behind the backseat. Space will likely be an issue at some point. But, we'll deal.
A million years ago, I went on a week-long "vacation" in my 2-door soft top Geo Tracker with three other "adults." We had all of our luggage plus a comically large bag (I think it may have literally been a clean kitchen trash bag) full of mini pretzels. It wasn't the most luxurious transportation, but it was a tremendously fun trip!

I don't know why I always see people say that 2-Doors are impractical. My wife and I (15 years together) have three children (3, 2, and 10 months). Any Jeep would be "impractical" for us because you cannot fit three carseats side-by-side in the back seats, even in a 4-Door. Yet, here I am with a 2-Door Wrangler with the two oldest having their forward-facing seats in the back. I can't take everyone with me, but I wouldn't be able to regardless, even in a 4-Door. Family outings at this stage of our life are reserved for our Honda Odyssey and probably will always be because we plan on having up to six kids. The Jeep is for daddy to have quality 1-on-1 or 2-on-1 personal time with his kids and they have an absolute blast with the doors and top off. I say go back to the 2-Door. You won't regret it.
