Lots of little details that are incorrect on that old Jeep, but at over 60 years old, it's difficult to achieve perfection with anything (myself included). Even my 1980 CJ-5 wasn't perfect, but she was easily one of the best Jeeps I've ever owned and will forever regret replacing her with my...
Wow...after decades of camping, I now know how useful it is to have a hair iron in the woods. Sadly, I only have a two door JL, so I'll probably have to leave something else behind, like maybe a fridge, stove or sleeping bag.
What you are proposing is a big PITA, when you could just install a McGard hinge bolt lock on both sides.
McGard Hinge Bolt Locks
You only need to do one hinge per side and they take less than two minutes to install. If you are really concerned that it isn't enough, you can buy multiple...
Not sure why there's so much hubbub over Auto Park. Far more discussion and "work-arounds" than one would expect for something that can easily be defeated with a fastened seatbelt. Am I missing something?
First time I opened the hood all the way back on my CJ-5, I must have leaned against it because there was a very noticeable/lateral crease that went all the way across the hood. If that wasn't bad enough, the pressure of the hood bumpers against the windshield started a crack that quickly...
The wide-opening hood is one of my favorite Jeep features, and every model has had this, going back to the Willys MB and Ford GPW. It was a military requirement that has persisted in Jeep designs to this day, which is both cool and useful. When swapping out a Hurricane engine in our old CJ-3B...
After decades of driving all manner of Jeeps and other vehicles, I'd have to say that my 2-Door Sport rides like a dream....it's almost too cushy for my liking, actually. My last two Jeeps were a 1999 TJ and a 1980 CJ-5, so one could argue that it's all relative, but zero complaints here. As...
So...if it isn't clear enough by now, please do NOT run your fuel tank dry. Gas in the tank keeps the fuel pump cool and lubricated, so if you run it dry, you also risk damaging the pump. Definitely not worth it for a science experiment!
Yes, it's super easy if you remove the positive cable from the positive clamp, leaving the clamp on the battery. That way, both will come out together, and you can more easily remove the clamp without breaking the plastic clip. Makes more sense if you watch the video that Rhinebeck01 (thank...
The heat shield fits perfectly and looks stock. As a bonus, I was able to remove the positive cable without breaking the plastic tab and can also confirm that it fits perfectly (albeit a little tight) on the Everstart battery too.
I don't know yet. Just topping off the battery now with a trickle charger and will install everything later today or tomorrow. Will advise as soon as I know for sure. TBH, I threw the shield in the trash, but will retrieve it so I can see how well it fits.
Right, but it's because Walmart (and most other battery retailers) don't know what eTorque is. From their perspective, there's either traditional Start/Stop (like ESS) or not, and anything other than traditional/ESS is considered not. This is why the staff recommended external venting.
All...
Concur 100% on the Start/Stop point, but eTorque isn't a conventional Start/Stop system like ESS. That's why the shop staff recommended to vent the battery.
So...I went ahead and bought the Everstart H7 at Walmart this morning and had a couple of interesting observations:
-As discussed previously, the shop manager and one of the "senior" mechanics supported the note that states "w/o Start/Stop, Battery is vented to outside of vehicle," and even...

I decided on the Wal-Mart Everstart Platinum. Can't beat the 4-year warranty, especially here in Southern NV, where batteries get destroyed by the Summer heat. I'm actually surprised my OEM battery made it almost three years.
