We all know that JL's tend to lean to the right with aftermarket suspensions. What have you done about it? My last JLUR had Eibach springs and King shocks, and after installing MetalCloak skids it leaned to the right badly enough that the right side fenders were 1 1/8" lower than the left side fenders. The Eibach springs were too soft, and even after adding 3/4" spring spacers on the right side it still had some lean to it. My current JLUR 392 XR has a MetalCloak 2.5" lift, and the right side fenders are 3/4" lower than the left side fenders.
Jeep builds these JLs with different spring rates for left and right sides, to compensate for the uneven weight of the fuel tank on the right side. Synergy says that they have different springs for right and left sides, but I don't know of other companies that go to the bother and expense of doing that. So we end up with the JL lean.
I had held off on getting the MetalCloak skids on this Jeep because I wanted to avoid the lean that the heavy dual gas tank skids cause. I thought maybe spending twice as much for the Next Venture aluminum skids that let you remove the stock steel gas tank skid plate, and replace it with aluminum, might be worth it. But my Jeep already leans, even with just the stock skid plates, so what is the point? Just get the stronger and less expensive MetalCloak skids and fix the lean afterwards.
What are people doing to fix the lean? I guess all there is, is to add spring spacers on the right-hand side. I thought about calling MetalCloak and ordering just one of their 3 1/2" springs for the right front and one for the right rear. Then running 2 1/2" springs on the left side and 3 1/2" springs on the right side. Anyone do that?
Anything else that can be done?
