I wonder if these would fit with a custom faceplate, and trimming the backside of the bumper. 19.596 watts each might be a little high for backup lights though...
It is easier just to machine down the aluminum housing on the left side Oracle lamp so that it fits. :)

I an confirm that the ORACLE LED Rear Bumper Reverse Lights are still a problem on the left-hand (driver's side). This is significantly disappointing, since I had ordered the reverse lights a year or so ago and sent them back last month to get the most recent manufacturing batch (February 2023). I never tried to install the first set that I ordered over a year ago, so I cannot comment on if/how things changed with the newest production line...

Was there any warning or anything on the Oracle website product page, maybe under features, about fitment issues with steel bumpers?

Oh, I’m not denying the notice/warning under the “Features” tab on the ORACLE website. I’m just confirming previous feedback of fitment issues for the stock steel bumper.

When I reached out to customer service about swapping my older model for the latest, the replies I got were indicating that fitment issues improved where modifications are less likely to occur, as they changed their original design.

It seems like the third design (if it ever happens) will have to be the charm if ORACLE wants better quality control.

I had one that did not fit the opening. I just used a wooden dowel about the diameter of a closet rod and a hammer to adjust the size of the opening in the bumper. Just took a few whacks. No grinding necessary and no damage to the paint.

That's an interesting technique. By chance, do you have a video of this process? Would like to see it in action before whacking away at a $1000 bumper.

No. It needs very little adjustment and the results are not visible to the eye. Just use something to transfer the hammer blows that is hard enough to move the inner lip of the metal a tiny bit without damaging the paint. I used a large diameter dowel that I had laying around.

this sounds far easier than dremelling down the light and then resealing is when it separates (which mine did lol). that being said, many months later mine still work luckily!

This is a well known issue and has been covered in multiple threads across various forums. It’s a PITA I agree, but it’s a simple fix. If you use a Dremel (or similar) to grind down the outside perimeter of the light a little bit you can get it to fit. Once you grind it down, paint the edges for rust protection and install. I did it and am very happy with the lights once installed. Agree Oracle should handle it better, bit it is what it is I guess.
Hi. Just saw your post. Did you install it on the steel bumper ? I just converted my rear bumper to steel and same issue with the left. It was fine on the plastic bumper for the past year. Now this issue. I did stared to file down the inner portion of the left opening and a bit on the oracle housing. Still working on it. I’ll finish it up Tomrrow if all goes well. I really thought that I bought a deformed steel Mopar bumper. I even borrow my buddy’s real steel shell and same thing. So I am not crazy. It’s the Oracle lights themselves

Yes, I have the steel bumper. Grinding it down is a pain, but worth it once it’s all done and installed.

Does anyone know if you can keep the red lenses in place and use the backup lights as rear fog lights?

One thing I’m confused about is this .
Don’t these sit inside the plastic bracket housing of the steel bumper ?

They set inside of the steel bumper and the plastic backing is what limits how far the lamps can be inset.

So on the “ steel” bumper. The plastic backing gets installed first. Then the “oracle” light goes in from the front of the bumper into the plastic housing ? OR - install the Oracle light on the plastic bracket housing and push from the inside ? I’ve tried both way on the left and its either dead blow the left opening and or grind down the Oracle light ! They are great lights when i had them on the plastic bumper. And now that I’m converting to steel it’s taking a lot of tries to get them to sit properly. Wish I knew prior … never thought the steel bumper would be a problem for these awesome backup lights
