JLUR - averaging somewhere around 19-20mpg, depending on how hard I'm smashing the accelerator. Highway over 70mph is also a decline but if you can tolerate driving slower, you'd get better

gas is cheap enough that I prefer to drive 75ish and accelerate how I want ;) Coming from a diesel as a daily driver, this is a huge cost improvement overall

Live in the DC area and drove about 100 miles today after filling up at Costco.

I averaged 23 when I got back home. Driving was 80% highway at average speed of 60mph. Too much traffic to go any faster. Got into some stop and go on the beltway and the mpg was dropping, but picked back up after the traffic cleared.

So, I logged about 100 miles and my range says I’ve got 300 miles to go if I can stay at 23mpg.

Stock rubicon hard top, warn winch installed and steel bumper group with front bumper ends removed. Currently at 3600 total miles.

Just curious what you Rubicon drivers are getting for average MPG? I was driving between San Francisco and Oakland yesterday and averaging 16.1mpg. Stock Rubi.
yeah, that is what i would expect.

however, i put 2,500 miles on it this week, and have learned some stuff.
i just tapped 20k miles right before i got home.

lotta folks say premium fuel is wasted on the JL.

i was getting 16.5 on the freeway at 75 mph on cruise control.... then....
i filled up the tank with shell premium. today, i drove from durango, co
to huntington beach, ca nonstop. 825 miles.

at 75~80 mph, depending on ticket risk. it was mostly 80 mph.

milage was 20.8 mpg for entire trip.

range on a full tank went from 325 to 400. you just stopped needing to carry
a 5 gallon can on the back, didn't ya?

what is interesting, is the IMMEDIATE change in milage.

also, i put in some off brand premium, half a tank in, and it immediately crapped back
to 14 mpg for the whole tank. it killed the good gas.

off brand "premium" seems to be stale regular gas.

According to the computer, which was reset fresh for the trip, we hit 21.6 on the way back to NJ from FL. We kept w traffic which was ~75mph. We began our trip with 434 miles on the odometer.

Of all the Wranglers i've owned i'm pretty impressed with this gas mileage and the ride quality. It is still a Jeep but now tolerable on the highway /grin

PS... the way down we got 19.6 but there was a TON of traffic

Shell has one of the best premium fuels available. From my understanding, they don't use any ethanol, so your octane is 91 from actual fuel quality, not boosted by fast burning ethanol.

I pretty much always see high 14s or low 15s in stock JLUR with soft top. It’s only 1 omg better than my JKU Sahara. Mostly local driving but without a heavy foot.

No, I didn’t buy a Jeep for good mpg.
Yes, I expected better.

I mean I'm coming from a lifted diesel on 37s and I get ~13 MPG, so these numbers are welcome!

3.6 Rubi with Steel bumpers and 100.lb step rails. I'm at 1500 miles and MPG is 20.4 on the computer. I drive 1/3 highway at 70 mph, 2/3 city. Couldn't be more happy with those numbers. Not bad for a shiny brick.

On the drive back from Austin, TX just a bit ago, I was getting 18.7 mpg...with a 2" lift and 35" tires. Had the cruise set at 73 mph.
