A fuel leak, not likely.I have a stock rubi 2.0l with aftermarket bumper and side steps only. I don’t have a heavy foot and drive like an average person, but after 2k miles I’m at 13.1mpg!!! Idk why it’s so low. Can it be a possibility something is wrong? Maybe some kind of fuel leak? Just doesn’t seem right.
It’s more likely environmental (temperature) and potentially the fuel. Many major metropolitan areas require the use of “winter blend” fuel which never seems to provide the same MPG’s as summer gas.
Another likely culprit could be auto-climate control. If your Jeep came equipped with that option and you use it regularly it will negatively impact your mileage due to it cycling through and engaging the a/c compressor from time to time. I first learned about that unintended side effect with my wife’s Honda Accord years ago. I was reminded of this on my JK which had auto-climate as well as on my JL which also has it.
If your Jeep has auto-climate, try not using the auto feature for a week or two to see if you notice any difference. On my JK I would notice up to a 2-3 mpg swing at times.
