  1. Jeeps aren't that bad

Initial quality does not equal cost of ownership. My wife has had a Tesla as a company car (Owned by firm, not leased) and there were a few niggles, but at no cost to the consumer. The 4 year service it just had was the most expensive one so far at 500€. On average, we pay like 150 a year for...
  2. Stellantis Agrees to California EV Rules [⚠️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS / FIGHTING ⚠️]

They do have a higher population, but that is largely irreverent. You need to looks at overall consumption vs production. Though from that statistics available online, they do certainly consume more than they generate. About 2% more. I would imagine that is largely down to the short sighted...
  3. Stellantis just fired hundreds of engineers [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

At the end of the day, Stellantis a holding company. They care about profit and little else. Safety, reliability, loyalty or anything else that used to be in the automotive lexicon are long gone. One of the reasons why brand loyalty has always confused me. Why would be you be loyal to a company...
  4. Stellantis Agrees to California EV Rules [⚠️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS / FIGHTING ⚠️]

As I don't I don't live in the US anymore, I don't care all that much, but I would say that I unsure what you mean with "not created significant electricity production since the 70s". They are ranked 4th in the US in terms of electrical grid energy production. That seems like a lot.
  5. Almost made it out of mud pit

Yeah, mud is the worst. I avoid it at all costs. I remember my buddy lost a drive shaft once when we were wheeling in Mississippi and he let some of that sticky mud dry on the drive shaft which blew the ujoints and the shaft fell off. Was funny, but a pain in the ass.
  6. Admit it.... how many of you love driving your JL on road with basically no intent to ever do any serious off roading

I would love to be able to go affroading often. However, living in Germany there are few options to do so locally. As a general rule if you ever come to Germany, if something is fun, it's probably illegal. I can go to the mountains in France or Austria, but it's not really " off roading" like...
  7. I don't understand why people complain about mileage!

Hey, I also get between 9.5 and 9.8. Of course, that is in l/100km which is about 25mpg ;) THat is with me driving like a grandpa though, which admittedly is how I actually drive.
  8. When did Wranglers start getting fuel injection and computers?

I know folks like to talk about the "good'ol days" and how things were made better back then, but old engines sure as shit are not something I miss. Sure, I learned a lot always having to wrench on my CJ and 72 Wagoneer, but on the other hand... they were always having some issue or another...
  9. The Sexiest Jeep Alive (2024 Edition)

Looks great. It's missing a couple doors though.
  10. Do angry eye jeeps get jeep waves?

Angry eyes mods are basically the face tattoos of the Jeep world. Yes, people are free to get them, but they should not complain when society at large shuns them. ;)
  11. New Gorilla glass is stupid $$$$

I have never understood why anyone thought Gorilla Glass was a good choice for a wobbly ass vehicle like a Wrangler. Gorilla Glass is made to take impacts and scratches. This comes at the cost of being more prone to cracking when applying twisting forces, such as the wrangler experiences by...
  12. So do we just ignore how bad the jeeps ride??

To be fair, that like saying, "I've had three sexually transmitted diseases over the last 30 years and herpes was the best out of all them" ;) I miss driving my old CJ though. Especially the weird feeling you get because the hood had the raised part which narrowed to the middle which gives the...
  13. So do we just ignore how bad the jeeps ride??

I personally think the ride quality in terms of smoothness is reasonable. Not good, but reasonable. I remember in my TJ, my wife would get so pissed off at me because she thought I was making it bumpy on purpose. I would say that the steering in the JL is among the worst I have ever experienced...
  14. 2024 Jeep Wrangler Named Best SUV of 2024 by Cars.com

What does "best" even mean? If your focus is on off road ability then, yes, of course the Wrangler is the "best". Something like an Ineos or G-Wagon are pretty close, but the Wrangler is better on the tough trails. If you are talking about stuff that most people who just want a SUV care...
  15. 3 Jeeps destroyed in 3 seconds!

True, but mainly they only us wechat. Westerners need to use alipay because that's more or less the only one that lets you link a western credit card. And you literally cannot buy things without QR code payment. Even places like McD's and starbucks. At most McD's you cannot even order with a...
  16. 3 Jeeps destroyed in 3 seconds!

Interestingly, tik-tok is not a thing in China. I am not sure if it's actually blocked or not since I never tried it there. Everyone only uses WeChat...... for everthing. Paying for something? Wechat. Ordering online? Wechat. Maps? Wechat. phone calls, social media..Well you get the idea...
  17. 3 Jeeps destroyed in 3 seconds!

They are Chinese plates. It's too blury to see where though. No way you are on the road in Europe with a stinger bumper.
  18. TO WINCH OR NOT TO WINCH

There have been a few times where I wished I had a winch. I always had at least a come-a-long though, which saved my bacon a few times. I had one on my old TJ, but I just wired the power for the front and rear of the Jeep and installed a receiver hitch on the front and back. Then I just put the...
  19. Ticking noise when the engine is cold

It seems to be normal. Most people who live where it gets cold report the same.
  20. Jeep People are Medieval...

I asked stable diffusion to show a drawing representing why it rains and I got something a bit different.
