I finally broke into the 15mpg club. I would love to get what most of you are claiming.

This question always gets asked, but the main thing that affects it doesn't seem to get brought up as much when answering the questions is how flat the drives are for the people. The highways here are not flat. In areas where the roads are flat, I've seen my gas milage change with a huge improvement. Basically take all of the reports with a grain of salt. The Jeep can achieve great gas milage under certain conditions. I'm around 16.5 with 80% highway or more and not driving with a lead foot.

Try this experiment... Accelerate quickly to get up to speed and then level off when near your cruising speed. Try to get to 8th gear quickly. I have found this 8 speed tranny/3.6L combo sucks just as much gas when easying up to speed as it does when doing it quickly, however when doing it slowly, you stay in the lower gears longer and delaying the ability to hit 7th an 8th gears (the fuel saving gears). Having a bit of a lead foot seems to be MORE fuel efficient and more fun!
YMMV... Literally

My daily commute is all hills. Up and down up and down. I can’t get it out of the 17mpg range no matter how I drive it.

On a long highway trip I can get in the 20’s but if you drive anywhere off the freeway it dumps back to 18mpg quick.

Daily commute of 35 miles oneway with around 1,500 foot change in elevation on a two lane US Route that twists and turns for 25 miles (I have driven on dirt roads that were less bumpy) and then on an Interstate for the last 10 miles.

If I keep the speed on the Interstate section to 65 mph, my daily commute mileage is now a solid 21 MPG; the 'trick' for me is to limit 6th gear to downhill and flats. 70 to 75 MPH drops the mileage to a solid 18 MPG

Snow and ice the last several weeks, I discovered that I can get near 20 MPG if I keep the speed at 40 or below while in 4H. I did not believe the reading, so I checked the mileage the old fashion way when I filled up for gas.

I was able to squeeze almost an additional 2 MPG out of my 2012 when I installed a K&N air filter; I will most likely swap out the Mopar filter for a high flow after market filter at some point. Meanwhile I use the built in MPG feature to find the sweet spots in gearing and rpms.

Have you re-calibrated the computer for the larger tires?

If it makes you feel any better, I get 15 on my Rubicon with 37's.

I disagree. It is something else. I live in a flat state, drive mainly on the interstate with some city driving. I drive at 70 on the interstate, no heavy acceleration because we have no traffic.

I have been in the 14’s since new. I was at high 14’s bone stock. I added all my mods and thousands of lbs and now I am at low 14’s. These guys getting north of 20 just boggles my mind,

I'm getting 24mpg in my Sport S. Do the Rubicon tires/gearing really kill the mpgs that much over the Sport/Sahara trim levels?

Just got home from a long weekend at Virginia Beach. First long drive since installing 35s on my Rubicon, auto 3.6 steel bumpers, 232.1 miles each way, average mpg 20.9 - 21.3 at 65-70 mph using cruise control (windy off and on) and just about a 1/2 tank of gas (averaging 17 mpg combined city). Let wife drive back since I was driving being mileage minded such as backing off the throttle going down hill etc., she is not a lead foot but not what I would call a smooth driver LOL! Anyway exact same mileage on the way back...
