Is the max speed on the JL capped? I find that the Jeep does not have the same power and speed as the v8 chevy truck with a 5.3L LS engine. Not that I'm expecting it to compare its just that there is so much less power with the 3.6L

All vehicles have been capped for decades. Their cap matches the speed rating of the tires they get at the factory.

My ‘25 Willys Xtreme 35 tire package with 4.56 gears build sheet states: 97MPH Vehicle Max Speed Calibration. I haven’t had it much above 80 😉🍻👊🏼

Have never come even close to the JLUR top speed. But often done Italian tune-ups coming back from skiing and SB. We have a perfect downhill on-ramp where LEOs hide in wait from behind.

From 2nd to 3rd pulls plenty strong enough when pegged. Seems right in the V6 powerband. Whereas our Porsche pulls to the rev limiter in an instant in every gear. Really have no desire to go very fast in the JLUR. 80 is plenty in that breadbox.

Are you seriously concerned about how fast a Jeep Wrangler can travel at top speed?
I have always liked finding out what the top speed of any vehicle I’ve owned is.
However, anyone with common sense that thinks JEEP doesn’t really consider this.

I have wondered but not seriously. I've been 80 on I-70 across Utah where the speed limit is 80, I don't intend to drive significantly faster than that.
I haven't hit top speed on any vehicle I've owned in over 40 years, prior to that I had a Datsun 1600 pickup that would barely break 70.

I’ve never thought to myself or anyone else for that matter “Hey self or someone else! How fast do you think this brick will go!?” Now, there’s been hundreds of times I’ve definitely asked myself if I could make it up this part of the trail!!

It's pretty damn easy to answer that question yourself, even if it'll take the 3.6 "a while" to get there.
Honestly, the few times I’ve found myself above 80 was merging from the on-ramps around here. Gets there pretty damn quick (3.6 8 spd auto 4.56) 🤷🏻‍♂️

I know for a fact that if you hit the 98mph governor in a 97 obs silverado something like 3x it’ll go past that 98mph governor. I’ve had my Silverado to 124mph racing up the grapevine many many many years ago!

The governor speed is kinda irrelevant given the aerodynamics of a Jeep. Even if you do manage to reach it your MPG will be in the single digits and you better hope there's no crosswind.

Funny story.
I was on a rough rocky single track trail when a Taco came in the other direction. It was a tight spot and we both paused a moment to consider how to navigate this. I found a spot to turn off the trail, pretty much climbing a wall to do so. As he passed me while I'm sitting in my Jeep Recliner®, the conversation went as follows.

Taco: Damn, is there anything a Jeep can't do?
Me: Yup, 100 MPH! That would be terrifying.
Taco: Ha ha! Fair enough, thanks!

The manual shifter get the 3.6 up to top speed quickly from what I remember, that was a Sahara with Rubicon wheels.
