Not necessarily true. You are making to assumptions: 1- that there is not a speed limiter set by the factory below the capability of the car. 2- you assume that both have the horses to red line the rpm in the highest gear.
Very few cars can do that, and the lower geared may have an advantage.
They have the same engine and transmission, with the exception of the gearing. He's not talking about different vehicles, simply trim options on the same vehicle...

And two, not to.

Thanks for the correction, it is two assumptions.
The rest remains true. Same engine, same transmission, different differential gears, only if both cars can achieve maximum rpm the gears will make a difference. Since the 3.6 in the wrangler is not capable of red lining rpm in the highest gear, you cannot say that the one with 4.1 gears is going to top at lower speed.
Your statement is wrong.

@Dan S look at it this way. I have a rubicon manual transmission. In 6 gear, at 2500 rpm cruises at about 75 mph. That means that at 5000 rpm it would reach 150 mph. The only problem is that even if the speed were not limited electronically, the engine does not have the power to overcome the wind resistance to climb all the way to 5000 rpm, let alone reaching the red line.

Personally, I don't give a crap... I think driving a toaster at 100mph is a pretty stupid idea. However, if the engines hit the same RPMs, and one vehicle has lower gears, that vehicle will be going slower than the one with higher gearing. RPMs X gearing = speed, so to speak.

Now we agree!!
Don’t mean to argue, just a chat.

FWIW I've maxed my jl out many a time on the freeway. Usually doesn't even quite make it to 100 before it craps out. I'm not sure what some of you people are babbling about in reference to gear ratio, it has nothing to do with the gear ratio and is all about a speed limiter in the computer programming.

Anyways it's like Martin Lawrence once said "sometimes you gotta feed some speed to yo ride"

To me though, it's kind of a little bit like talking of a Corvette's off road performance
I think someone at the Vette board is asking about approach angles and crawl ratios

Somebody needs to put their JL on jack stands and record a video showing what speed they top out at

To each their own but realize that our beloved Jeeps are great for power, climbing and snow but are also not low to the ground. If you push that 100-125 range and have to swerve for something in the road, deer or a slow driver you can tumble her pretty easy.
