If you want the actual meta data of the music you're listening to, you aren't going to get that with an external CD player. Your best bet is to rip your CDs, which should provide all that data including album art by literally embedding them into the files, and play them off a USB stick.
This is the way.
I have a CD player in my older car, but I rip everything to a microSD that lives in the Jeep.

Like others, I have well into four digits of CDs, and did try the rip them down approach.
That didn't work for me, and I don't like paying for subscriptions if it can be avoided.

I also found that the original entertainment unit that came with my 2019 JL Sport was a piece of crap and wanted to change it, it was the 5 inch unit, dreadful!
Also, like some others, I wanted an optical disk player!

Here is my solutions, Alpine!
They have at least two head end units specifically designed for the JL, I would have preferred a Kenwood, I prefer the features, but last I saw Kenwood have nothing specific for the JL.

The Alpine does tie into the bus and you can change vehicle options, not perfect, but it works.

The unit can do CD or DVD, but I just use it for CDs. If anyone wants more specifics on how I made this work, post here and I will do my best to answer your questions.

Might I be in possession of the only JL with a built in disk player?

Okay dinosaur haha

Cancel Sirius XM and get a Spotify subscription and you'll have endless music available. You can pick your own and see what you're listening to. You can also download as much as you want to listen to offline. You will thank us.

I have a CD player in my 2021 BMW; the guy handing it over to me said it was likely one of the last cars you could get with one. I have used it exactly 0 times.
Ok. I downloaded Spotify on my phone. I'll play with it.

If you have google music, you can just upload all your CDs to that and listen to them where ever you want, not just in the car.
Oh you mean that service that Google shut down like all their other services?

The Wrangler doesn't have any type of SD or microSD slot, does it?

That would actually be awesome, since I have several 200GB micro cards and not enough USB ports in the Jeep.

you mean the one they just renamed to youtube music that I still use everyday and still have all my music uploaded, plus get youtube premium included at the same price... which is nice if you do not like ads.
Just a hint.
If you have a VPN, you could create a google account from India or even better, Argentina. You can use your US card as well picking a random address in a big city, but keeping the US zip code?
Why you ask?
Because it would cost about 2 bucks a month in total. Naturally I would never do that nor have I been for the last several years ;)
And no, you are not geolocked to that country. When you log in with that account in the US, you get all the normal US stuff.

didn't read the whole thread, but you're portable CD player should be 5V DC and you should be able to get a USB cable to power it - that's what I did for mine. They also make bluetooth CD players, which I have been considering because the Bronco doesn't have an AUX in :(

If no Aux, an FM transmitter linked to the output of the CD player would work.

I have an old iPod Touch I used to link via cigarette lighter adapter with an FM transmitter in an older car. I bet it'd work in this kind of situation. It'd just be an experiment as I already have SiriusXM and a phone-load of music.

Transfer your CD's to digital files and put them on a mini USB stick. I use mine with over 3500 songs in the center console usb port. Works great.

Tell me more: Do the songs play randomly? Sequentially? Or can you search and choose songs via app on Uconnect? other?

Tom, I have the 7' Uconnect, and I have transferred the music files from my iTunes library, folders and all. The Jeep will read all the meta-data and you can play by song, artist, album etc. Shuffle or not. Basically, everything you can do with the phone or iPad. It even shows album art.

With a large library, it takes a bit for the Jeep computer to "digest" all the info, but it works great.

The new 8 tracks that replaced the 4 tracks were great.
Dang... I've never seen anyone else ever mention the Muntz Stereo-Pak.

Take that manual trans data with a grain of salt as well. Yes, GenZ nearly doubled MT demand which is noteworthy. But it's from the Millennial "clutches are hard" low, 0.9% to 1.7%. Not exactly enough to declare a comeback of the MT, but maybe they won't die out just yet.
New cars? Yeah... Millennials can't afford those.

Got to mount it like this:
