Then I have no inclination to carry an extinguisher. Burn baby, burn.I don’t get all the “easy to clean up “ there’s so much plastic on these rigs, you’re gonna end up with this ? in a matter of seconds so I think cleaning up would be the least of my worries……?‍![]()
Was that in reference to my comment about using a BC for a kitchen stove fire vice an ABC?I don’t get all the “easy to clean up “ there’s so much plastic on these rigs, you’re gonna end up with this ? in a matter of seconds so I think cleaning up would be the least of my worries……?‍![]()
Nah dude, it was a generalization, of all the posts, I don’t even know what BC and ABC is…..?Was that in reference to my comment about using a BC for a kitchen stove fire vice an ABC?
Class A - ordinary combustibles. Wood, paper, cardboard, vegetation.Nah dude, it was a generalization, of all the posts, I don’t even know what BC and ABC is…..?
I'm in Arizona and it's 118 degrees f today. I have had my extinguisher mounted on my roll bar for 4 years and it's still charged well. I have an ABC type that should cover all fires well.Out of curiosity, for those that keep them on board all the time, is there a concern that heat built up inside the cabin on a hot summer day with the windows closed might trigger one of these to blow and douse the interior?
I'll be honest. I am really disappointed. I was going to get one.I was considering buying the Element extinguishers until I watched a few you tube videos. They didn't seem very effective and you need to be too close to the fire. I don't think they will work well in the real world.
Yeah, the footprint is incredible. But apparently it aint all it claims.I'll be honest. I am really disappointed. I was going to get one.
I have the exact opposite opinion. If my Jeep catches fire out and about somewhere, assuming nobody is trapped in it, I'll get what I want/need out and just watch it burn as I wait for the fire department who is better equipped to deal with it than I am. I just have the theory that my 5 lbs extinguisher is not likely to put that fire out and I doubt I want any vehicle after it has been on fire anyways. My extinguisher is to save the forest, not my Jeep. Extinguishers are handy to have, but I think the idea of noticing smoke from under your hood, grabbing the extinguisher, and putting out the fire is not very realistic. It could happen, but not likely. The most I've used my extinguishers over the years is putting out unattended camp fires that I come across.I'm not concerned about putting out non-vehicle fires.
Was successfully able to put out an engine bay fire with my last car using an extinguisher. Had some critters build up some nesting material on one of the heat shields above the turbo and by the time I got to work, the heat turned it into flames. Thankfully, the fire was still contained to just that section and no other damage occurred, but had it spread any further and started to melt all the countless wiring harnesses, I probably would've been better off to just let it continue burning while calling the fire department. Getting something like that repaired likely would've been a nightmare.Extinguishers are handy to have, but I think the idea of noticing smoke from under your hood, grabbing the extinguisher, and putting out the fire is not very realistic.
