I am new to the forum and I have a 2018 JL that has COMPLETELY frustrated me with everyone of the issues y'all are describing and more! It has been in our local dealer's hands for nearly three weeks and I just picked it up (as they said "they had started it 50 to 60 times and it did not do anything that I described..." - although they have several videos of doing it exactly as described).

I drove it home and got literally two blocks from my home and it went berserk again with the power steering going haywire. UGH!

Does @JeepCares know anything?

My 2019 JLUR Wrangler 40,000 miles, same issues. 3-4 visits, had a rental until they gave me a loaner which i have had for 2.5 weeks now. Notified Jeep Customer Care, and the dealer claims they CAN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE! I could barely get it there, it's so unacceptable. So many threads on this. @JeepCares please help me help my service department.

Stumbled upon this thread as I think I've had the _exact_ same problem. 2018 Wrangler JL Rubicon with ~24k miles. It stalled/stuck itself in park a few weeks back. I'm not super savvy with the mechanics these days, so we had it towed to the Jeep service center. Got it back with two new batteries and a ton of warning lights.

The service center was being fussy about it when I said "wtf it was fine two days ago" so I gave up and drove it home. Bunch of electrical issues now (e.g. abs, 4wd, cruise control, collision indicator all not working or saying not working), and just now looking to see if others had similar problems. They were trying to place blame on after market parts (I have a bunch of mopar stuff, a winch, frankly nothing complicated.. mostly official parts or well regarded).

I gotta say, this 2018 has been nothing but issues. It spent weeks in the shop multiple times for a differential issue (that was also a common problem), and I'm now worried this is gonna be a simialr event. Worst part is its out of warranty now and the Jeep service centers rack up charges quickly.

I'm curious to see where you end up, and I'll try to update this thread if I find out anything.

Probably going to fix this, sell the Jeep, and move on at this point. Sad because I've loved Jeep in the past, and this was my first time owning one.
I believe the OP said he cleaned the connections on his CAN BUS found in the glove compartment and added contact grease. He had no issues for a week. I believe his response is on page 2...

Funny, I have had loaner for 3 weeks myself, and dealer called to tell me they went in and out of all electrical, and it seems to be fixed, though they cant tell me what they fixed. I tried to swap out the loaner and the dashboard lit up before i even put it in gear. Tried to restart and it wouldnt. Just left it there and took the loaner back. Its not safe and they keep saying they can't replicate the issue, which is NONSENSE. I don't think they are capable or legally they are being told to act as though it doesn't exist. I have jeep customer care case manager and its not doing anything either. Sorry you are having same experience. Only a matter of time until someone gets hurt. I stalled out in busy one lane intersection, and it wouldn't shift into drive. Had to let it sit for ten minutes. Also power steering is dangerous if in a turn. Unacceptable by Jeep.

That is REALLY scary. Surely they must have at least one experienced tech that can test it…or take the time to do some research on the matter. I mean…they did have your jeep for 3 whole weeks. What they do with it the entire time???

I honestly don't think it moved from it's spot. I could barely turn it on to get it there, and they said they did multiple test drives, even the service manager claimed to have taken it for a drive, as I suggested he do to experience the problems. Very odd I couldn't even shift it into gear when I got in it again and have it not turn on after I tried the restart. I don't know what to do.. I loved the jeep and babied it for 3 years, wanted to keep it for my daughter some day.. and now it just seems terminal... Terrible time to consider another vehicle too..

Yeah…I hear you. I’ve been without mine since 08/09…due to blown head gaskets and warped cylinders (@ 61k miles) that did so under my nose w/no warning lights when the overheating was occurring. It’s been sitting At the dealership waiting to get approval from FCA to replace the engine via my extended warranty. The reliability of these rigs are making me question the brand…and I’ve been a Mopar girl forever…essentially born into it.

issues like this make me question whether I should feel safe in this rig…whether I can rely on it on long trips. I just don’t know.. hope you can get your situated sorted.

The warnings can be replicated by unplugging the connectors from the green bus one at a time, it did for me.

Also tapping the green bus makes the cycling error codes go away.

Shell Thank you for the advice on that. Hope we all get back on the road soon and turn this experience around.

Purchased a 2018 JLU Sport S a few months back, shortly after the purchase I started having the same issues everyone in the thread is describing. Curious if anyone ever found a solution to the problem? I've read all the proposed fixes, but I've yet to read any thread where someone has actually found and fixed the problem. Any updates from those who have found a cure?

Hey Larry, I feel your pain, no permanent fix. I leave the glove box off an when it acts up I tap the green bus, the alarms stop, I turn off the ignition, open the door to shutdown the system and restart.

I think replacing the bus is the fix but last I checked I had to buy the entire wire harness which I thought was 1500 usd but not sure.

I’m hoping someone will develop an after market part or eventually find one used.

thx
