Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

The latest revisions of the hinges have a zinc shim, not a gasket.

Has anyone heard any more, or seen any new info about them replacing the hood, doors & tailgate vs repairing them? Someone alluded to that a few days ago but I can't find anything. I'm going in for repairs in May & would prefer new parts vs risking the chance of more corrosion showing up on the repaired parts.

Sadly, it appears that they are not installing these hinges on new products.

At least not until really late ‘23 production, if not ‘24 onward.

Well heck, that only took 5 years for them to figure out a band-aid

So what about all the fixes out there that didn't get this "improved" symptom treatment?

Still need to fix the cause and fully paint from factory the area - sealing all bare metal and fix the contamination issues causing bubbles away from hinges on edges of panels!!

Are these available separately? Part numbers? I know it says to do only affected hinges but maybe good preventive maintenance to install them BEFORE there is an issue?

If it really is a sacrificial anode (which it is), you would think they will have to make replacements available eventually.

I'm guessing it will last long enough to get past the corrosion warranty period (5 yrs).

I wonder if the shim itself is replaceable like most sacrificial anodes or if we would have to replace the entire assy once the shim gets eaten up?

I'm waiting until all the hinges are bubbling as they only replace the bad ones...also noticing the same bubbling on the hood edge btw...

I just stopped at the body shop and asked them to order all of the hinges in the new TSB. I don't want mismatched hinges and I'll happily pay for the ones that weren't on the estimate.

I think I see a gap already on my '22 hinges, but it's probably just wishful thinking. I doubt the fix was figured out a year ago (built Jan '22).

But check out the fine print... Why not do all and be done with it. Kinda BS.

I previously went thru this thread but can’t remember if there is a specific TSB that reads 5 year/ unlimited mileage. I know I read one saying 5 year/ 100k but vaguely remember members posting that it was unlimited. If so does anyone have an image of it? Took it to my dealer that has usually taken care of me, body shop manager came to look at it, checked the mileage (109k) and basically said you’re shit out of luck. Shook my hand and walked off.
