  2. Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

They are working hard to earn it! Or do I mean hardly working?
  3. Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

    stay away........RUN.
  4. Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

I had to go through 3 repaints on mine - it was a total disaster. I guess my real point is that just because factory failed and dealer fixed it doesn't mean its "FIXED", should be unloaded. These new JLs are just NOT GOOD QUALITY to try to keep for any length of time.

I really don't see how it is acceptable to basically rebuild a factory vehicle with new body panels and people seem OK with it??! It is sickening to think that is what needs to be done, and there still won't be any assurance that the problem won't come back.

Personally, based on my experiences……..STAY AWAY! You will have ongoing problems if it is bubbling now.

Well heck, that only took 5 years for them to figure out a band-aid So what about all the fixes out there that didn't get this "improved" symptom treatment? Still need to fix the cause and fully paint from factory the area - sealing all bare metal and fix the contamination issues causing...

    HIGHLY unlikely.....

Did you buy that jeep used? Do you know if it has been repaired once already? Hate to say it, but it looks like the hinges were already repainted - notice where the "T-50" is embossed - it should be a lot more crisp and defined....... Mine looked just like this photo after the first repaint.....

The great gasket debate...... If anyone thinks gaskets alone is going to solve the corrosion they're dreaming. If it were galvanic ONLY then an insulator (gasket) would fix that, but several mechanisms are causing the corrosion as is evidenced by bubbling at edges of panels that are completely...
  11. Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

Exactly what happened to mine - same color Granite Crystal. had to repaint 3 times: first spot repair/blend, second whole panels, and ultimately the entire side of the jeep because they couldn't get it to match. And then the quality was sub-par when that was done...
  12. Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

    unsat! I would demand respray.
  13. Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

What a joke. That is a head-in-the sand approach by the dealer.
  14. Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

Steer Clear- fixes are band-aids only. Once corrosion is there it is more likely than not it will come back. Also, it is likely it will pop up in other areas that currently appear fine. Trust me you will be chasing the problem as long as you own the vehicle.
  15. Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

Likely buying a known problem. There has been no proof on this thread that a gasket exists between the door hinge and panel. Even if it does, the doors are still painted bolted up with that gasket and raw aluminum will be under any gasket. Confident you will experience what all here have...
  16. Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

Yeah, my Torx bits are more rounded on the edges vs some that are sharper. Took the tailgate hinges off to replace the gate with NO CHIPPING at all.
  17. Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

Has anyone unbolted a '21 or later to confirm there is a gasket?
  18. Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

Hit the nail on the head - action taken by Jeep is admitting to the problem.
  19. Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

Band aid to get it to slow down until out of warranty period.
  20. Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

WOW. That's all I can say - this is UNSAT for this age of vehicle. Jeep should be ashamed.
