My point wasn't that things aren't getting fixed under warranty, but rather that none of the fixes being done are being done under the corrosion warranty.

I understand your point, but I'm confused because I see people who have 4-year-old Jeeps with no holes who are getting fixed. SO how?? They all say it falls under the 5-year corrosion warranty.

They're incorrect, they are being fixed under a goodwill policy by Jeep.

If Jeep wanted to be pedantic, they would resist repainting, but among other things that wouldn't look good.

This whole paint issue is a CAL waiting to happen. People paying 50-80K for a vehicle aren't going to let a major issue like this slide as a "Jeep thing"

My guess is its cheaper to cobble a fix on the ones people complain about than it is to fix the root cause of the problem.

Guessing if FCA starts denying the customers request for repairs, it will blow up really fast. I have to think there are more than a few lawyers that own new Wranglers.

Show this TSB and see if your corrosion will get approved. Is at the discretion of Stellatis Jeep Regional Office based on photos that are submitted to them by the Dealer.

We had 2 warranty claims approved based on surface corrosion bubbling. Photos were taken by us and given to the Dealer to submit. Last one was completed after 3 years.

Outside body shop used was different each time. Both times work was not to industry standards and needed multiple call-backs to correct visible deficiencies. Total paid to them and car rental agencies was well over $10K by Stellantis Jeep. Work in the end was better than new as epoxy primer was added to areas under the hinge and paint match final was spot on. But was a complete PITA and BS - as had to act as a middleman - since the Dealer engaged the body shop. Any issues you had to deal with the body shop directly. The Dealer refused to get involved taking a hands off approach since they are not trained to determine acceptable industry paint quality. So be aware you are 100% the QC dept. Not the Dealer. Unless the Dealer has their own internal paint shop.

Completely idiotic but it is what it is. Still must be a lot cheaper for Stellantis Jeep vs doing it right the first time on the factory floor. Since the corrosion bubbling continues on newer JLs. Only pos for us was that all the very deep pin-striping and wash scratches are now completely gone and a well used off-road 2018 JL got a new paint job that is much better than the one off the factory floor.

This is very very normal for Stellantis Jeep. If you have no corrosion keep your fingers crossed. Look at the number of vehicle models affected in the TSB! Stay on the body shop to get the paint exactly as you want.

I started my process in September/October of last year. My Jeep went in on Tuesday and it's still in. I told them I was going to be very picky on the color match. We'll see what they come back with.

I'm getting every door and the tail gate hinges done. Jeep did not approve the hood hinges, which are not showing bubbling yet.

I posted a year or more ago about my 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon JL and paint bubbles on hinges. I was told by Jeep I had up to 5 years to get this fixed under warranty so I wanted to wait as long as possible. I am at about 4 years now but I was absolutely floored by how much more bubbling there is now. I gave it a good washing over the weekend and there is now bubbling on every single door hinge, one of the hood hinges, and onto one of the door panels. It seems to be getting worse very quickly. I am at the point of thinking it may be time to just trade the jeep in but the part I am struggling with is that it has not been fixed by Jeep so a brand new jeep will just have the same fate. Starting to think about something else to purchase outside of a jeep. That is really depressing to me since I have owned 5 Wranglers and driven nothing else since I was 16. Come on Jeep fix this problem!!!

Yes, that is the most frustrating thing about it.

Jeep has not changed any of their processes or techniques to fix this in the future, which is the strongest evidence to date that they find it less expensive to just repaint vehicles of those who complain, and hope that most others won't notice or won't complain until it's too late.

pointless post by me just to vent.

Going on 3 weeks today that my heep is in the body shop.
Mine was in for 25 days (4 doors, hood, hinges and apply decals). Hope yours is completed soon. Note: I was quoted 2-3 weeks by dealer. Only upside is the body shop they farmed it out to did a fantastic job. Still waiting for rental car reimbursement but that looks promising based on email exchanges.

yeah, they said 2 weeks, all 4 doors, hood and tailgate

rental car for the first 5 days, then I had to call every 1-2 days to get an extension. The rental was a beat up wagon with 30K on it and smelled like death, so returned it. Didn't want to pay for a rental.

Greetings!
Well, I finally got my Mojito Rubicon back today after a combined time of 51 days altogether. The work done by Audette’s Auto Body in Worcester is superb! Unlike Brigham Gill Jeep in Natick that couldn’t match the color, over sprayed and sent me home with chewed up torque screws for the hinges…and touch up paint…
Everything matches and looks as though it just rolled out of assembly.
It was a looooong wait, but if it stays this way for the one year left in my lease, I might overlook the hassle of it all.
My Customer care advisor from Stellantis (Kerrie) was amazing through the entire experience (twice)…Herb Chambers service in Millbury MA, not so much…
I have high hopes for a young lady named Chelsea, but the rest of them?! Yikes!
Anyway, best of luck to everyone still waiting….I hope this works out for all of us.
Side note: I stopped at my original dealership as they have 4 JLs in various packages on the Used lot…all have paint bubbling! 2 2018’s, 1 2019, and one 2020…?

Just went to pick up my Jeep after four weeks (they told me 3-4 days. Ha!).

The color didn't match. Not even close. I left the Jeep there and am expecting a phone call today to see what they can do.

Just dropped mine off this morning for round two. More spots came up. Hope the second time is the charm.
