The longer they delay each repair, the closer one's vehicle is to running out of warranty. It took about 3 weeks for FCA to approve mine
Thatās reassuring for me.Mine was out of the 36mo and under the 60.
Likely buying a known problem. There has been no proof on this thread that a gasket exists between the door hinge and panel. Even if it does, the doors are still painted bolted up with that gasket and raw aluminum will be under any gasket. Confident you will experience what all here have been. Talked to an owner of an '18 this weekend and was able to see vehicle in person and it was a disaster. Paint bubbling on ALL door hinges themselves and around bottom seams on doors. It was a mess.Does anyone know if Jeep has done anything to fix this issue on newly produced models? Have a 2023 on order and obviously don't want to buy into a known problem. Thanks.
This is truly disheartening to any owner or potential owner. It might be beneficial to remove the hinges when new and either paint the bare metal or install a gasket or both. That will eliminate the total contact area thus slowing the process.Likely buying a known problem. There has been no proof on this thread that a gasket exists between the door hinge and panel. Mine went in for inspection today. The Jeep dealership took notes on the damage and sent me to a sister dealership that has a body shop. Said once the body shop sent over a quote, they would get approval from FCA to sub out the work. The servicer did not seem hesitant about this or that Jeep would cover it under my 5 year corrosion warranty. The body shop took very detailed notes and pictures, even found some spots I had missed. Said he had fixed a lot of JLs and that their repairs seem to hold up as they don't come back for further work. I should hear back about scheduling by end of week. I am cautiously optimistic....Well mine goes in for inspection this week. Iāve made a print out that Iām hoping will help the servicer recognize and remember all the areas of corrosion that Iāve found. Wish me luckā¦ā¦.
Sorry to see this. That's a lot of different areas. I guess I will check mine again, over the weekend. I'm to the point were I am almost afraid to look.Well mine goes in for inspection this week. bad thing is I just bought it two weeks ago. Crazy how unnoticeable this stuff is until youāre looking for it specifically. Love every aspect of this JLU otherwise. My first car was a 97 TJ and I am overall happy to be back in a Jeep.Sorry to see this. That's a lot of different areas. I guess I will check mine again, over the weekend.
