Bronco vs Jeep Wrangler mega thread

I’m amazed at all the comments regarding better articulation only mattering for rock crawling. Have none of you ever done anything off-camber? Tried to climb a side hill while straddling a rut with any kind of obstacles in it?

I've typed this a few times now, but continue to see comments about how Jeep compromised all, for the sake of rock crawling articulation. And how that person doesn't care about rocks, yet continues to list off a bunch of other off road uses that will result in the same excessive wheel lift. It's nothing but false compartmentalizing of a very common off road scenario.

I only chimed in to openly agree with you. Otherwise, this'll probably be the last time I attempt to open up one of those people's eyes to reality. Let them found out on their own, that a simple dirt hill with a rut will hand a tire just the same. I foresee the bronco needing momentum and lockers more often than a Wrangler on the same line on the same trail.

Completely agree. SFA is not just better for hard core rock crawling, it is superior for any slow speed offroading. Black bear pass is not a hard core trail by any means:

Well, Nickp01 is a moderator there.....so some of these boys have some pretty emotional connections to the Bronco they can't even buy yet. Just keep that in mind when you read their posts. They're emotionally invested in this vehicle in much the same way we're financially invested in the JLs. It's human nature to defend what you decided upon.

I try and be pretty objective though. I love the Bronco because I feel did do several things just objectively better than Jeep. (Powertrain, lockers on all trims, top removability, Dana 44 rear on all trims, 35’s from the factory, way better gearing options from the factory, size of the 2-door, etc)Also the design is incredible to me, but obviously that is subjective. I still absolutely love my JK, I honestly wish I could financially figure out a way to keep it and turn it into a crawler. But that’s not in the cards right now... I’ll definitely be back to part of the Jeep family within a few years. Probably in a TJ or YJ though.

If color selection is your ultimate decider of vehicle purchase, I fail to see how offroad capability factors in at all, LOL.

not my determining factor for ordering a Rubi, I was simply responding to bbq4413. Hey I went through 4 color choices til I ordered a yellow Rubi. It's not a big ask that I want A COLOR...and not a shade.

Sting Gray > as cool as it is, I wanted A color
Hellayella > ordered

Color is important...I don't see how you can disagree that you chose your color...if not, have your dealer surprise you with their color selection...

Color is important...I don't see how you can disagree that you chose your color...if not, have your dealer surprise you with their color selection...

TBH I thought Sting Gray was a slightly worse version of my Tacoma's Cement Gray.

As for the Bronco, the only colors I was interested in were blue, silver, and orange, with blue having a significant gap to the silver.

It's simply not the most important factor in my decision about purchasing a vehicle, especially as it relates to offroad prowess....which is exactly what I said, "If color selection is your ultimate decider of vehicle purchase..........."

I think anyone who's ever sparred with me here will attest I'm very careful with my wording.

Yup. It wasn't high up on the list for me, but when you're waffling elsewhere it's easy for color to play a bigger part.

Yup, that's very true. I actually was ready to place a 2020 Rubi order but the guy told me my primary color choice (Punkn) was gone so I decided to wait to see what 2021 would be offering. 2021 presented us with 5 shades of gray, red and HellaYella. ...so 2 colors. (a note...August Wrangler order guide now lists Snazzberry, still no blue)

Anyway, now there is another contender (at least for me) and that's the Bronco. Would I switch to the Bronco if it was simply a "Bronco shaped" Explorer, lol, no! I would definitely be keeping my Rubi order. So I can confirm I didn't reserve a Bronco cause I liked their color selections better haha...it's just I like Ford, I like the company, the history behind the brand, etc. Much the same way Jeep has history and relevance in the off-road world. For me personally, I have no idea how I'm gonna decide which to follow through with -- all I know is I'm gonna have to decide soon as 2021 orders will be or already are starting production.

Sadly, my dealer has not even given me a VIN so I don't even know what production phase my Jeep is at right now. I'm rather disappointed with the dealer/sales guy in that respect as I made it clear to him I wanted that VIN when it was available. And even when I call, he always seems rushed and seems to have the attitude "you'll know when I get it, stop calling me". I placed June 27...and still have no VIN (that I know about). I called him 2 weeks after I placed it, he said no VIN. I haven't heard a peep from him, not even to say "sorry man, no VIN". Maybe I'm just impatient, but this wasn't how it was when I ordered my GT350R...guy was contacting me all the time, sent me photos when the car arrived and sent me updates when I didn't even ask...obv, can't blame "Jeep" for this, salesman issue OR it truly is that there is no VIN...

I can attest to this, also , lm not the sharpest tool in the shed, so I also keep google handy when talking to Sean because he always uses at least one word I’ll need to look up..... ....I don’t mind though it’s always educational........

83 Toyota pickup for me then ...why on earth am I spending 50-60k on a Bronco or a Jeep if I can just pick up an 83 Toyota?? Lol

All Nick is saying is that the Bronco isn’t letting many people down...maybe here in this Jeep forum (and a few First Edition owners in the Bronco forum haha) but all things considered it’s impressing most who have waited. Not only because the Bronco’s back but because it’s actually capable and I’m sure a lot didn’t even think it would be able to do what it’s doing in these videos. I am sure he wasn’t implying that a Jeep couldn’t do the same obstacle ...just that a stock, 33”, non-lifted Bronco can too.
