Sleeping in Jeep with fridge

No idea how to title this ?
So when I go weekend wheeling for a few days I like to sleep in the jeep in the 60 split. But I’ve been packing my heavy ass yeti cooler and I have to take it out to sleep and it’s just too damn heavy. Are any of you guys using a fridge in The back of your JLU and still able to sleep back there? What do you have?

If you have a tow hitch. I would suggest a hitch basket that you can put your fridge on to free up space inside. You can also cable lock it to the basket, so no one walks off with your fridge. ?‍

I sleep with my 12v fridge right under my pillow. The compressor is directly under my head. Rotating the fridge prevents it from opening with a passenger in the passenger seat.

It has woken me up a couple of times, but in most cases, I sleep right through it.

Yeah, and probably hard on a fridge that has a few vents to suck in air and blow over the coils. Think about the trail dust in the fridge system.

Have you considered an SUV tent? I used to pop this up in the back of the Jeep and stick my fridge, tables, chairs in it so I had a full trunk to move around in (2 dogs too) and a "living room" during the day. Highly recommend it, it's a great tent, setup and breakdown are really quick.

I'd close the tailgate at night to keep temps sane. Also the JL exhaust points outside so there's not a huge concern if you run the AC/heater to get temps good before sleeping although I still have a carbon detector inside.

Also while I'm here, there's no latch to exit the tailgate while you're inside but you can add one by removing the tailgate ventilation cover and a strap. Do that because crawling out of the Jeep sucks.

At least with this would be easier to unload the cooler at night. Bears are irrelevant. Not like people don't camp in tents still and cooler is sealed.

How about getting two smaller/lighter coolers. I know those rotational molded coolers (Yeti, Cabelas, Kong, Otterbox, Pelican, Siberian, Patriot, Grizzly, etc) are very good, I have one. But they are heavy as hell. As such, I rarely use mine. If your weather not super hot and length of journey is only a few days, maybe a couple cheaper coolers is better for your needs.

The cooler I use more than the (many) others I have, is a vertically oriented roller 75 qt Igloo Maxcool (probably discontinued). Deep sleep for Jeep works great for me. I keep the cooler at the rear now, and leave the 40% seat in the up position. That way I can enter and exit thru that seat and door.

I've done one week long trip where I slept in the back. I put my folding mattress on the passenger side with the passenger front seat all the way forward. I used a small igloo cooler on the righthand side. I built a shelf across the back so I could put boxes of gear on top of the shelf. Clothes and a few other things go in the front seat. For a weekend trip you could probably get by with a cooler. For a week long trip I replenished my ice a time or two.

Can't you feel the trench? The angle of the folded seat doesn't bother you that it's not flat?
