I will tow my Jeep behind the Motorhome and make sure I make it back to the Motorhome for a comfortable nights sleep and a shower and a pot of coffee in the morning I’m done roughing it

Amen. We are pretty much done sleeping on the ground or in the back of the Jeep. Plus I am to big. We will tow the JLUR behind our RV.

In 40 years of trucks, Jeeps a Pathfinder and a rock crawler Toyota I have always slept outside under the stars. Lots of talk of sleeping in Jeep's.
What view seems better?
Vic...the headliner in your first picture....what did you do to it! Spray white paint too close? It looks like a starry sky (yuc yuc.)

I have a hammock that I put down rear seats, move front seats full forward, and hang from front rollbar to rear. I then sleep floating a couple inches above the Jeep floor looking right up through my front silent sunshade.... if needed I remove that.

Works well for solo trips or with my son who sleeps in identical hammock next to mine.

I love the cot under the stars watching it all happen!

When i go camping/trails im always alone in my jeep. So it becomes a one seater.

I pull the passenger seat and made a crappy little platform. Best sleeps ive had in there on a 1” foam pad and a 2” inflatable pad.

I do this early in season(snow/wet) summer ill go to a tent

Nice shot of the sky!!

Id like to know the important stuff though.
Like, what exposure and lens did you use?!

We've slept in the cargo area of out JKUR/JKU when PREDATORS have made the tents QUESTIONABLE--

It's much warmer/secure/QUIET !

There's actually plenty of room and comfort !

Gotta be honest, it was a stock photo I downloaded just to prove the point that I would rather look at the sky than the headliner.

In my 20's, a tent, $20 hotel room, someones floor, the back seat were all acceptable places to sleep.
At 50, a 3 star minimum hotel with a hot shower and coffee is a requirement. :)

I slept in the back of a rental JLU out in the Grand Tetons with just a sleeping bag and some pillows and it was fine. The Deep Sleep air mattress looks awesome. I might be picking one of those up.

Someone fabricate this then let me know how it goes... The lock/latch can be like one of those Mason jars wire locks on the inside of the window...

Years ago, there was a guy on one of the other wrangler forums who created some inserts (maybe 8" tall or so) that fit in the rear passenger windows on the JKU. They were made out of a screen-like material with a metal surround. So you got airflow without the bugs. You just rolled down the rear windows, placed them on top of the glass, then rolled the window up just enough to make it snug with the top of the window frame. Simple yet super effective. It'd probably take a bit of digging, but it's out there somewhere.

I am designing a Jeep Camping Sleeping platform designed for an optimum balance between comfort and storage. Check it out if interested. I am open to any tips you might have. Thanks

With a friend of mine who has an awesome shop and has all the know-how to use the machines, we came up with this platform after having deleted both back seats. It works perfectly and I am in love with it. I also got the NitePad by Xprite and which I only use the 60% part and I am set. Have traveled Chicago to DC and back and Chicago to KY and back sleeping in the back of the Jeep and it has worked for me.

Hey that is pretty nice. Mine is similar, but incorporates a little more storage beneath, and ...fortunately in my case...doesn't involve such nice craftsmanship. Nice job!
