Hello forum, starting some research online in regards to adding a charger/battery monitor to the Jeep when parked in the garage, to plug it in for days Jeep sits or is only used for short trips. Doing the research on units available is making my head spin and mental overload, so just going to ask here what owners have and work for them, and purchase what is recommended for my needs and Jeep setup. My setup: 2023 JLU DIESEL, Aux Battery bypassed (F42 fuse pulled and negative cable disconnect from main battery), OEM main battery changed out and replaced with Optima Yellow Top AGM H7 880CCA. Looking for a quick disconnect/connect pigtail charger type, that Jeep hood needs not opened to disconnect/connect from charger. If any more info is needed to give advice, feel free to ask for it, I may be forgetting info to give in this initial post. Feel free to give some pics of units used and quick disconnect/connect locations from outside of Jeep, much appreciated! Thanks forum members!

2nd the NOCO Genius 10.
You only need a small charger to maintain an idle JL. The NOCO Genius 10 is a very good small charger.

I've used the Noco Genius 10 on a number of vehicles for years and it's been great. Held up to light rain. Even has a "repair" mode that I used to rescue an unchargeable AGM battery last weekend.

If you get one, I recommend the following accessories that will allow you to just connect/disconnect a connector rather than mess with battery clamps each time:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004LWQ35Y/
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004LWV0GQ/

I got this one a couple years ago. It's been a good charger.
Blue Smart IP65 Charger (120V and 230V) - Victron Energy
I have the IP22 version of that in my rear cubby wired to an external socket so I can just run an extension cord to the side of the jeep and keep both my aux and starter battery topped off -- worked great so far over the last year. Victron seems to make good stuff.

I ordered the Noco unit and the 10' extension cable. What does the first accessory do that you have listed? Also, yourself and others, where do you have the quick connect end poking out from the Jeep for easy access to connect up the charger unit? Any worries about the quick connect end on Jeep side taking in rain water etc?

Another question, apologies if this is ridiculous to ask, when I connect the Noco ring terminals to battery, does it matter if the Noco ring terminals are under or over the Jeep positive and negative ring terminals?

You answered it in your next post: attaches to your battery terminals so you can just use the quick connector.

I actually don't have this set up on my Jeep (use a hard-wired Victron charger that's part of a larger setup, as described above) but I do on a different car. I just let the connector dangle down off the battery. It has a water resistant cap with a retainer when not in use, so no worries there.

Well the ring terminals are way too small to go directly on the battery posts, if that's what you're talking about. They attach to the smaller accessory posts built in to the jeep's battery terminals.

I'm using the Battery Tender 5amp and had Jeep install the pigtail on my battery for me. Works great.
