Bosch Icon have been my go-to for a while on all my vehicles. They seem to last longer than the others before streaking sets in but I haven't tested this rigorously.
Gear oil is most definitely a solvent. It's just like mineral spirits but with longer hydrocarbon molecules. Oils in general are great at dissolving other hyrdrophobic (read "oily") substances.
The best solvent for hydrophilic substances is, of course, water.
As for the propane tank mount, PowerTank makes a variety that you could probably adapt to your purpose if you have the rest of the setup: https://powertank.com/collections/all/propane. Well built but not exactly cheap.
As for hinge mounts for spare tire deletes, check out...
The second feature is a benefit (what if I dropped my phone in a river or it got eaten by a bear lol?) but as for the first one, both google maps and apple maps now allow you to download sections of the map for offline use, as do the offroad-focused nav apps like OnX and Gaia. Of course, one...
Might want to look into a rear track bar relocation kit as well. Raising the roll center of the rear axle can help reduce the rocking motions of top-heavy vehicles and their effect on handling, although at your lift height the effect might be subtle . . .
Had no idea. All this time I thought JSCAN was a separate hardware device 🙃. I actually have that exact OBD scanner and a Tazer, so may check out the app for less-fiddly tweaking of settings. Thanks!
Thanks for mentioning this, BTW. In had no idea such a product existed but persistent untraceable noises drive me crazy and this seems like just the thing to finally track them down. Much better than the various kludgy DIY solutions I was daydreaming about. Cheers.
I well-remember the story of the Kim family who became snowbound on an isolated back road: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Kim#Snowbound. I was a Boy Scout. And, of course, I've read "To Build a Fire." Since fire is life, I don't go hiking without at least 2-3 different means of starting a...
Whenever they start to bug me I dig ‘em out with a hooked steel pick, like the one in this set: https://a.co/d/7B1PDcB
Works great.
I did have some of that rubber tubing in there as a preventative for a while but it kept flopping out so I removed it. If my jeep wasn’t a dedicated trail rig I’d...
Did you ever find a clean 12v source up there? About to start something similar for my dashcam.
BTW, if folks don’t want to mess with hacking up a cigarette lighter adapter, a 12V-5V buck converter like this works pretty well (currently have 2 of them providing extra USB ports at the top and...
I realize that is recommended practice, and I used to do that religiously with my Exped down pads, but I currently don't with this pad. I just don't have the space unless I finagle some room under the guest bed.
There's also a reasonable argument to be made that repeated cycles of compressing...
