Hood lock (Bolt). And then Mopar gas cap lock. Each works with factory key.
I wish I could add the bolt hood lock. I have the trail camera. No way to mount any type of hood lock there. Only option are the cheap locking hood latches. Not sure they are worth the money.

First "mod" was removing the rear set. Got that done within a few minutes of getting home from the dealer.

First "real" mod was the diabolical slipstream. Pre-COVID I had a commute the slipstream made it so I could lock my work laptop in the back when I wanted to go somewhere after work.

I believe my first mod was the stubby antenna.

Favorite mod to date is my Bestop Sunrider for Hardtops. I despised dealing with the Freedom Panels. Now they sit in my garage in their bag like they should.

My recommendation is to start a "Jeep Mods" spreadsheet and an Amazon Wishlist. Every time someone mentions a mod that sounds cool, or you come across something you want, get in the habit of adding it to one of those (or both) so you can research it later. Also helps with budgeting.

My spreadsheet has been a lifesaver in helping me spread out the mods/spend while keeping track, etc.

Glad to share what I've got - please feel free to steal/copy whatever works for you:

Amazon List
Spreadsheet

I've also kept up with my build journal, link's in the signature.

Hey everyone, I just ordered my first '21 JL and can't wait to have it in the drive and out on the trails. Last few weeks I have been drooling over all the potential modifications and wanted to ask everyone here:

What was the first thing you added and was there anything you did that you regretted or would do differently??

Cheers,

H
I wired my lockers to my auxiliary switches #3 and #4 so I could use them in 2wd , 4H and 4L. Of course this was before the tazer was able to do it.

Not really a regret , but if I had it to do over, I would have installed long arm kit from the start.

But I set my rig up as an off-roader that has on-road capability.....:)

Rewired my first compressor to run off the 7-pin. I never had to lift my hood once to air up. Ran with just this for months, then did radio and recovery jack mount.
You're a pretty fart smeller. I've had a Viair battery terminal compressor for 2 years and haven't even considered this as an option.

It is a 30A fuse, so check your compressor before you cut it up, lol. Smittybilt is too high, but I think most portable Viair’s work.

I am not ordering my JL for 2 weeks (next day off when the dealer is open) but when it comes in day 1 will be stubby antenna, quadratec sill guards and CMM mirror mounts. 1.5” teraflex leveling/lift spacers will soon follow.
