What Is This Box?

Just picked up my JLRX XR this evening and the box / extension is on it. Will look into this week, first I have to get the winch and lights on! Waiting on one of the skids.

@alphawolff Damn, it was worth a shot, thanks. I do recall the RF hub being right there by the roll bar but like you said, it's further back and already covered by the much smaller panel that I have.

I would but I’m scared it will void my warranty. I’m only 3 weeks into ownership.

I did try pulling on the panel and couldn’t get it loose. I didn’t fiddle with it too long. I’ll try to give er another go later. Looks like there is something under there though!

This is getting to be like the show with Geraldo Rivera opening Al Capones safe in a 2 hour televised event. Empty with dust inside of it.
Being that it is also on the 392 Wrangler I don`t think it is engine specific?
I might just have to go to the Jeep dealer and poke around

Finally, thank you! But that's really strange that they did such a redesign, including the extra support structure underneath, for no apparent reason. It takes up extra space and doesn't match the other side.... Way to go Jeep!

Need someone with a "More money than sense" Jeep to open theirs up. That support structure is similar to what they use to protect the electronics around the door sills. That arch in the center seems like a good spot to drop a module.

Former 2 door owner here… newly minted 4 door owner. My 2024 4 door has the same “nothing” in that box. Seems very much like a parts consolidation ploy.

Weird. Is there a part number on that plastic support bracket? Maybe look it up and see what the part description / name is to give us a clue.

I agree, I can’t unsee it now. So, on the passenger side they install nothing but a piece of 5-cent carpet but, with some relatively significant cost to Stellantis, they design, manufacture, and install a frame and cover on the driver side for? Clearly not looks ‘cause it looks goofy. There’s gotta be a reason. Some future install?
