I want to say our 4 door has about a 2 gallon reserve from when the light comes on, I would expect the 2 door to be similar. The owners manual says the 2 door vs 4 door has a different capacity but I am curious if they actually have different tanks or it’s just a difference in the filler neck vent like the older 13 vs 19 gallon tanks.
As for the gas cooling the pump I had read that being submerged is what cooled the pump. Well my son’s Dodge van needed a fuel pump replaced and that idea was quickly proven wrong when I did the work. The pump was basically sideways and top mounted so as the fuel level went down more and more of the pump was exposed and not bathed in gas. After doing more research I found out that the cooling happened from the fuel being pumped through the pump. If you let the tank run dry and you suck air is when you lose its cooling method.
