  1. Best way to drive on REALLY slippery mud?

This is the kind of situation that made me want to get a winch mounted in the rear, or carry a receiver winch set-up. Sudden rain storm on a high altitude Utah road turns it to gumbo that adds a couple inches of slick clay to the circumference of your tires (not muds :-( Just creep along...
  2. What info you like showing in your upper left and right instrument panel?

+1 seeing what gear the transmission is in makes me happy (in my first vehicle ever bought with an automatic). I don't know why it's not there from new--why you have to go into the catacombs to turn that feature on. But still, it's worth it. (And it's not catacombs. just a few submenus.)
  3. Bike rack for 2 door?

I'm assuming it's for a 2door Jeep? OP profile mentions a Camry but I'm assuming OP has or plans to have a 2door Jeep. If so: Definitely use a hitch rack. Look at Saris for good values, but there are many makers of lower cost hitch racks. https://saris.com/collections/hitch-racks I don't see...
  4. does anyone else find the the oil dipstick doesn't show oil level clearly?

well, I'd argue there are still reasons why you'd need to accurately check oil level (not related to smoking or burning oil). A vehicle has a dipstick to measure oil level for a reason. If it has one then it should work. My own recent example: Couple weeks ago I did the dealer recall for...
  5. best method for cleanest oil filter change?

I've read about this method--loosen the filter then put a ziplock bag over it and remove it--but apparently that can still make some mess. Also have read that some people puncture the filter first to drain it, but not sure how that keeps it cleaner unless they have a way to bag it before they...
  6. Walmart wouldn't install my 35's

I've had this refusal at Costco too, including for my TJ years back. Big O doesn't hesitate and they seem to do good service too. Discount Tire I thought too, so maybe it depends on the location/franchise rather than central corporation. When Costco refused years ago but I'd already bought the...
  7. does anyone else find the the oil dipstick doesn't show oil level clearly?

This is the first motor I've had where the oil doesn't seem to settle in a clearly visible line on the dipstick to read. Even if I wait to pull the dipstick for a good while after running, it looks like there are splashes along a range of the dipstick level area and no definite line that shows...
  8. MPG impact of bigger tires

nitrogen is 3% lighter than air. Not going to help.
  9. anybody ever seen one of these mopar bumpers in real life?

I like the big square crash cans. Especially if they are that hard dense rubber like the ones on my stock TJ bumper. It's helpful to have something like that in between you and the car/SUV backing into you while trying to parallel park. I saved those square rubber crash blocks off my TJ bumper...
  10. anybody ever seen one of these mopar bumpers in real life?

Looks narrower than the 3-piece steel bumper option. Looks like a knockoff of the ARB Bondi bumper
  11. Bolt-on steps to Rubicon rock rail?

Here are the auto drop down / tuck back up steps I mentioned. Premium quality and function, and they get highly reviewed here. But check here for install notes since there are tricky things about getting them wired up properly. Amp Research PowerStep Running Boards...
  12. Bolt-on steps to Rubicon rock rail?

the only downside to the M.O.R.E. hide-a-step is that it seems expensive compared to other bolt-on steps. I didn't get them at first - about $160 per step - which is a lot if you have a four door and need one at each door. I didn't get the M.O.R.E. at first for that reason, and tried other...
  13. Bolt-on steps to Rubicon rock rail?

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=m.o.r.e.+hide-a-step Here is the older video done by M.O.R.E. The jeep the step is on has a lot of lift. On my Rubicon 2door on 35s, the step height is a bit higher than half way between the ground and the bottome of the rock rail. So it is an...
  14. Bolt-on steps to Rubicon rock rail?

The M.O.R.E. hide a step is really easy to use and stable. Do a search on youtube and you'll find a videos showing function and install. It bolts into existing bolt placements under the rock rails and tub bottom. The step itself is removable without tools by pulling a couple pins underneath.
  15. Quick Opening Oil Drain Valve

good link, thanks. The tube I'm using looks similar and was part of a simple tube kit Fumoto sells. The Fumoto tube kit included a couple plastic fittings that snap onto the brass lip of the Fumoto. The tube by itself worked better than the plastic fittings did, and stays on the longer spout...
  16. What's your favorite camp stove?

+1 I'd get one if they sold a single version of it with just one burner plus a cover. edit: a bit of investigation showed they do a single verion of it with one burner. The pan serves as cover. The orange double is almost as compact folded as the single though (9.8"x4.6" vs 9.5"x4") and it's a...
  17. What's your favorite camp stove?

haha, I was halfway through posting my own Svea 123 photo with the same message: maybe not the best but certainly favorite (I use an MSR Reactor now, fast and good, and variable flame. Its best attribute is that it's light and small and just as good for backpacking. A Jetboil Genesis would be...
  18. Passengers (In a 2-Door)

Every thread on passengers in the back of a 2door needs to remind Jeep to make it a split rear seat that allows one half installed, one half removed/stored, so we can take one passenger back there with storage on the side. 👍
  19. BFG All Terrain T/A K02 sold at Costco

Be aware that Costco may refuse to install tires that are larger than stock tires and put them on a vehicle. The two Costcos I tried to buy tires from would not. I'm in Utah with lots of modified vehicles and Jeeps, but even when I showed them the lift on my TJ they said no, they have to go by...
  20. Redline Tuning Hood Struts - 5 minute Bolt-In installation!

I really love having the RedLine hood lift struts. Couple years after installing RedLine, the hood still quickly pops up without me having to think about it or wait. Once the side-latches are undone, I just tap the under-hood hook to the side and the hood goes right up. Most of the time when...
