Has anyone noticed there USB port lights stay on all the time? I was just in the back of mine and noticed they never go back out. I lifted up the cover up front and they are powered up also.

They connect to CarPlay when off too. I get the welcome screen on my phone when I plug it in even with the vehicle dark.

I love this forum... I was just in the garage tonight with all the lights off and the rear seat USB port lighting caught my eye as I walked by!! I came right back to into the office so I could ask this exact question :like:

So count me as another one who has noticed, but, does that make it right??? Is this really how it's supposed to be?

Is there a size limit to the USB as I plug in a 128G with 32G on it and it says error on all of the ports?

I have also noticed this. Is there a way to turn this off? Did I turn something on in error? Has Jeep commented if this normal?

Just chatted with jeep support, here was their reply: Okay looking in on the USB information for the vehicle it looks like this should be normal. It look like there are no settings or options to change the lights to go on or off but did not find any notes on this being on all of the time. It may not hurt to ask the dealership about this the next time you are in for service but it seems like it should not indicate a problem.

@Jkohler @Fuel Fire Desire @tobyw @PaPasJP @Slombardi20

This happens in my 2-door. I didn't notice it in the front dash, until I left the flap open. In the rear, even with the flap covering the USB ports, the lights shine through the translucent usb logos on the rear flap. This is an unnecessary power draw.
I really doubt this is normal. When I lock the Jeep, all the lights eventually go out and less than one second later, the USB lights come on
@JeepCares , what say you? @JeepCares , if you can't answer this, can you tell us you will forward this issue 'up the chain' to get an answer?

Other notes I just noticed:
On page 557 of the 2018 All-New Wrangler Owner's Manual, it states "The Smart Charging USB ports provide power to your device up to an hour after the vehicle is turned off." Perhaps this means the USB lights stay on while the USB ports are in power delivery mode. I will check out the USB lights in one hour and report back, to confirm or deny if the USB light go out

UPDATE/EDIT:
After an hour, I went out to check on the USB lights. The one in the back USB light appeared to be out. It was hard to tell because the flap was down and soft windows have tint. I opened the door to confirm the front and back flaps covering the USB lights were down; they were. I did NOT start the Jeep. I opened the front and the back USB flaps. I then shut the doors and locked the Jeep. All interior lights went out and the USB lights immediately came back on, just as I mentioned above. They were very to see, since the flaps were now up. I waited another hour and went back out to check. I can report the USB lights DID SHUT OFF, after a time less than 70 minutes or so.

To conclude, I can report my USB lights do go off after about an hour. However, the comment in the owner's manual that the USB ports provide a charge "up to an hour after the vehicle turns off" may not be true, if the charging capability is indicated by the USB lights being on, because my USB lights light up and stay on when the door is unlocked and opened; not by turning the engine on.

If any other forum member can duplicate my findings or find any variance in my findings, please, let the forum know by replying to this post.

@Waiting I can confirm that mine stays lit right at 60 mins after shutting off the engine and getting out and locking the doors or but the weird thing is if you have the Jeep unlocked and and just get in and out it goes off with the EVIC display but if you lock the doors and then unlock like you are going somewhere and then get out and close the door it stays lit for the 60 mins

Thanks for confirming!
I just noticed this light staying on because for some reason the control panel light was staying on. I unlocked and locked Jeep. Then light went out after one minute but usb light stays on front and back I guess in the center console.
Am I the only one who keeps my Jeep hooked up to a CTEK charger about three times a month just to make sure my battery is charged up?

I don't hook to any charger to keep my battery topped off. However, I just closed the USB port lid after a week or so getting used to it staying on. I never had any battery drain issues. I'll also mention I work from home often so, I leave the Jeep parked for a few days at a time and my drives are very very short. Again, no batter drain issues.

Lol, where would I be without this forum! Just saw this today and wondered why it was still lit after a while of being off.

I just now noticed the same thing on mine. The Jeep has been parked in the garage since yesterday afternoon and when I walked by a while ago, I noticed the ports, front and rear were lit up. No doors had been opened and the Jeep is unlocked.

I know, old thread. But I decided to revive it after my discovery.

Now I'm going to revive it. Had a dead battery yesterday. No idea why, but the battery on this new-to-me Wrangler is new-ish. Threw a 800ma battery tender on it and in a couple hours it was "green" and she started right up. I noticed that the lights around the power/USB ports stay lighted. Seems dumb. I'm going to roll the dice and hope that it's just a light or something my wife left on. I leave the light switch on "auto".
